  • Patent number: 8699848
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to display, during data recording, the number of recording media that are required to store all of recorded data in the case where the recorded data is copied to the recording media, and to display a ratio of a recorded area to the capacity of the recording medium to which data is copied, and thereby to provide improved convenience. The capacity of a large-capacity recording medium such as a hard disk is divided into data fragments each of which is equivalent to the capacity of a small-capacity recording media such as an optical disc, so that data is recorded on a partition capacity basis. In addition, the number of used media each having the same amount as the partition capacity is displayed; and the amount of recorded data, or the remaining recordable capacity, based on the partition capacity, is also displayed.

  • Patent number: 8023374
Abstract: Trial writing is made by recording waveform different from that used to record information in a disc. In the trial writing, particularly, the strategy having short cooling time or large cooling power is used to make recording, so that the jitter characteristic having clear difference between jitters in magnitude can be obtained to get stable calculated power. Thus, the recording quality can be ensured and user's convenience is increased.

  • Publication number: 20080292271
Abstract: When external input data is recorded on a HD and an optical disc, recording on both discs is executed in intermittent recording fashion or recording on the optical disc is executed in low speed continuous recording fashion. During recording on both the HD and the optical disc, the residual amount of optical disc becomes slight, recording on the HD is allowed to continue, recording on the optical disc is paused while holding a position indicating how far recording on the optical disc has proceeded and after exchange of the optical disc, dubbing to a replaced optical disc is started from the stop position. During mere dubbing, recording on the optical disc is paused while holding a position indicating how far recording on the optical disc has proceeded and after exchange of the optical disc, dubbing to a replaced optical disc is started from the stop position.

  • Publication number: 20070263513
Abstract: In a transient state in which the temperature difference of a drive device and a disk surface is great and the temperature of the disk surface changes successively, the issues of making a strategy suited to the temperature of the disk surface appropriate, making the irradiation angle of the laser light appropriate, and making the recording power level appropriate are regarded as problems requiring resolution. The aforementioned problems are solved by respectively detecting the temperatures of the drive device and the disk surface and, based on the same temperature difference, determining an appropriate strategy; and further by adjusting the laser light so as to irradiate at an angle appropriate to the inclination of the disk and irradiating the laser light on the disk; and determining an appropriate power level in response to the temperature of the disk surface.
