  • Patent number: 7636630
Abstract: There is provided a prediction calculation system capable of allowing a numerical traffic information to be predicted in such a manner that day factors and the like are reflected thereon. Even if a day whose combination of the day factors is the same as that of a prediction-target day, i.e., a day with the same instance, does not exist within a time-period during which past traffic information has been accumulated, the prediction calculation unit merges the past traffic information appropriately, thereby predicting traffic information corresponding to the objective combination of the day factors. Concretely, the prediction calculation unit combines some of characteristic quantities of the past traffic information on a day-unit basis, thereby approximately reconstructing and predicting the instance.

  • Patent number: 7577513
Abstract: In a congestion prediction using measurement data which is acquired by an on-road sensor or a probe car, and which includes none of explicit information about bottleneck points, with respect to time-sequence data on congestion ranges accumulated in the past, data on congestion front-end positions are summarized into plural clusters by the clustering. Representative value in each cluster is assumed as position of each bottleneck. A regression analysis, in which day factors are defined as independent variables, is performed with congestion length from each bottleneck point selected as the target. Here, the day factors refer to factors such as day of the week, national holiday/etc. It then becomes possible to precisely predict a future congestion length.

  • Publication number: 20090048775
Abstract: A route searching method is provided which allows drivers having mutually similar traveling purposes and preferences to find highly convenient routes by sharing their route searching know-how. A center apparatus (1) collects probe data received from an in-vehicle terminal apparatus (5). A preference parameter creating unit (14) calculates, based on the probe data, road usage frequencies according to preference items such as vehicle type, driver age and gender, and travel purpose which can be factors for route selection and stores the calculated road usage frequencies as preference parameters in a preference parameter database (15). A route searching unit (513) included in the in-vehicle terminal apparatus (5) requests the center apparatus (1) to transmit a preference parameter similar to user attribute information (519), adjusts link costs according to the preference parameter received from the center apparatus, and determines a minimum-cost route to a destination.

  • Publication number: 20080294331
Abstract: There is provided a method and a device for accurately estimating traffic information of a link having no traffic information even if different types of roads are mixed. The device finds a parameter characterizing a damping curve of a quantity of change of relative speed based on stored traffic information for links on a city center side on a minimum-time cost route connecting the city center and suburbs, finds a quantity of change of relative speed of the link having no observed traffic information and estimates its traffic information based on the damping curve. The device also calculates a ratio of quantities of change of relative speed of two links whose road types change as a speed change similarity ratio and estimates traffic information of the link of a second road type from known traffic information of the link of a first road type by using that ratio.

  • Publication number: 20060058940
Abstract: A traffic information prediction system has a traffic information database for recording time sequential data of traffic information and a traffic condition change factor database for recording the location, time period and type of an event which may change traffic conditions. The time period and location of the change are detected from data distributions of the traffic information, the change being unable to be explained even by day factor information such as days of the week, seasons and commercial calendar, and weather information. An event having a relatively shorter temporal and spatial distance from the detection results is searched from the traffic condition change factor database. The traffic information prediction system can detect an occurrence of an event changing the traffic conditions and its influence area.
