  • Patent number: 6341415
Abstract: A method for assembling a magnetic head assembly with a slider and a magnetic head including forming, on a slider supporting member, a terminal connected to a magnetic head terminal. In addition, the method includes fixing a head slider on the slider supporting member so that the head terminal faces the terminal of the slider supporting member and contacting a conductive ball member to both of the head terminal and the terminal of the slider supporting member. Furthermore, the method includes pressing the ball member to bond the head terminal with the terminal of the slider supporting member so that the ball member connects the terminals electrically and mechanically.

  • Patent number: 6078472
Abstract: A suspension for the head assembly includes a mount section formed in a gimbal section, and a head slider adhered on the mount section with an adhesive. Cable patterns are formed on a base member of the gimbal section, and electrically insulated from the base member. One end of each pattern is located in the mount section and capable of connecting with a head slider. A pad is projected from a surface of an adhering area of the mount section in which the head slider is adhered. The pad is electrically connected with the base member of the mount section.

  • Patent number: 5602698
Abstract: An actuator arm assembly in which a spacer is designed to absorb a stress occurrable during a caulking operation so that the spacer will not be deformed. The actuator arm assembly includes a base; an actuator arm rotatably mounted on the base and having a first hole at one end thereof; a load beam supporting a magnetic head at one end thereof and having a second hole at the other end; and a spacer firmly secured to the other end of the load beam and fixedly caulked to the one end of the actuator arm. The spacer includes a flat portion, a cylindrical portion integral with the flat portion, and an annular groove formed between the cylindrical portion and the flat portion. An inner diameter of the cylindrical portion at its distal end portion is slightly smaller than the diameter of the caulking ball.
