Publication number: 20230016995Abstract: Various aspects of the disclosure relate to event triggers for independent links. For example, an event trigger may be based on measurements from multiple links. In some aspects, the independent links may involve a first device (e.g., a user equipment) communicating via different independent links with different devices (e.g., transmit receive points (TRPs) or sets of TRPs). For example, the first device may communicate with a second device (e.g., a TRP) via a first link and communicate with a third device (e.g., a TRP) via a second link. Publication number: 20230007685Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may perform a transmission detection procedure on each base station before combining control information. The UE may use demodulation reference signals (DMRS) as a detection mechanism. If the UE detects a DMRS from a base station, the UE may determine that a control resource set associated with the base station is valid for combining. If the UE does not detect DMRS from the base station, the UE may refrain from combining control information from the base station. In another example, base stations that pass a listen-before-talk (LBT) pr6ocedure may transmit a preamble before transmitting control information. A preamble may carry a preamble sequence associated with a specific control resource set. The UE may identify a preamble sequence and determine that the corresponding control resource set is valid for control information combining.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 13, 2022Publication date: January 5, 2023Inventors: Seyed Ali Akbar Fakoorian, Xiaoxia Zhang, Srinivas Yerramalli, Chih-Hao Liu, Tamer Kadous

Patent number: 11503559Abstract: Cell acquisition is disclosed in frequency diversity configured for frame based equipment (FBE) access, such as using opportunistic frequency switching. A user equipment (UE) begins cell acquisition by synchronizing to an available communication channel of an available cell in response to detection of a synchronization signal block (SSB) associated with a network on which the UE communicates. The UE receives system information associated with the available cell from a serving base station, wherein the system information includes identification of at least: a link indicator identifying linked communication channels available for opportunistic switching, sensing occasion offsets for each of the linked channels, and access information associated with each of the linked channels. The UE measures a channel quality for each available channel. The base station transmits this system information on each of the linked channels and then monitors the allocated random access resources for signals from the UEs.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2019Date of Patent: November 15, 2022Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Aleksandar Damnjanovic, Xiaoxia Zhang, Yongbin Wei, Srinivas Yerramalli, Tamer Kadous, Andrei Dragos Radulescu

Patent number: 11463188Abstract: User equipment associated with a legacy network may utilize a bottom-to-top search technique to identify relevant control channel samples. Generating a control channel that is configured for the bottom-to-top search technique may lead to poor performance in a single-carrier waveform, which may be disadvantageous as networks move toward New Radio. In some aspects, described herein, a base station generates a control channel that is configured to minimize gaps in the control channel, and a user equipment performs a top-to-bottom search technique to identify relevant control channel samples. By using the top-to-bottom search technique, degradation of single-carrier waveforms is reduced and efficiency is improved.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2019Date of Patent: October 4, 2022Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Jing Sun, Tao Luo, Tamer Kadous, Juan Montojo, Xiao Feng Wang, Sony Akkarakaran

Patent number: 11432344Abstract: Synchronization signal block (SSB) multiplexing and remaining material system information (RMSI) monitoring in new radio unlicensed (NR-U) networks are disclosed. For SSB multiplexing, a user equipment (UE) receives an SSB configuration for a discovery signal detection window having a plurality of communication slots, wherein, based on the SSB configuration, UE identifies random access resource and time and frequency locations to monitor remaining minimum system information (RMSI) configured for each SSB. The UE further receives an SSB transmission indicator that reflects a listen before talk (LBT) result, which it may use with the SSB configuration to map one or more SSB for rate matching in selected slots. The UE can then rate match any data transmissions around the identified SSBs in those identified slots regardless of LBT result. The UE may further leverage the SSB configuration and indication of LBT result to monitor SSB transmissions for control resource set (CORESET) transmissions.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2020Date of Patent: August 30, 2022Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Xiaoxia Zhang, Jing Sun, Tamer Kadous

Publication number: 20220264640Abstract: New radio (NR) transmission opportunity (TxOP) structure having flexible starting points are disclosed for wireless communications. When a typical listen before talk (LBT) procedure is performed, the transmitting node will not know ahead of time when the LBT will pass and, thus, when data transmissions can start. NR systems may include a mini-slot design for accommodating transmission units smaller than a slot. Aspects of the present disclosure provide for flexibly increasing the number of potential starting transmission boundaries depending on when the LBT pass is detected. Alternative aspects of the present disclosure determine the potential starting transmission points using a mini-slot based design, a floating slot based design, or a punctured slot based design with a code block group (CBG) level retransmission mechanism.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 8, 2022Publication date: August 18, 2022Inventors: JING SUN, Xiaoxia Zhang, Taesang Yoo, Tamer Kadous, Yongbin Wei, Aleksandar Damnjanovic

Patent number: 11395345Abstract: Physical random access channel (PRACH) configuration on new radio unlicensed (NR-U) networks is disclosed. A UE may perform PRACH transmission either with a transmission opportunity (TXOP) or outside of a TXOP. The UE monitors for a control signal from a base station, such as a preamble or common control signal, identifying a TXOP. The UE may obtain an autonomous random access configuration for communications outside of the current TXOP that identifies a random access slot includes a plurality of random access occasions. If the UE fails to detect the control signal, it transmits an autonomous random access signal in a random access occasion corresponding to a beam direction of its location in relation to the base station. Otherwise, upon detection of the control signal and receipt of a trigger signal, the UE may transmit a random access request within the TXOP.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2020Date of Patent: July 19, 2022Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Xiaoxia Zhang, Jing Sun, Tamer Kadous

Patent number: 11388728Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A transmitter may identify a contention window for a no-energy-detection protocol for determining a channel availability for a data transmission. After the contention window expires, the transmitter may send a request message to a receiver. The receiver may measure a quality of the request message against a request threshold and transmit a response message if the measured quality exceeds the request threshold. The transmitter may then measure a quality of the response message against a response threshold. If the measured quality exceeds the response threshold, the transmitter may initiate a data transmission with the receiver. If the quality falls below the response threshold or the response message is not received, the transmitter may adjust the contention window and reattempt the no-energy-detection protocol. The contention window may also be adjusted based on an acknowledgement message received after the data transmission.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2018Date of Patent: July 12, 2022Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Yisheng Xue, Xiaoxia Zhang, Aleksandar Damnjanovic, Weiliang Zeng, Tamer Kadous, Yongbin Wei
