Abstract: There is a composite image filing system in which optical discs and microfilms are organically combined and integrally managed. This system comprises optical discs and microfilms in which image files are recorded and a work station to register, search, and process the image files. The work station has a memory to store search information of a format integrated between the optical disc and the microfilm. The search information which specifies the image files includes information indicative of the kind of medium (microfilm and optical disc), information to specify the medium number of the optical disc and the physical address in the optical disc in the case of a optical disc file or to specify the cartridge number and frame number in the case of a microfilm file, and the file name. The work station manages the image files by the search information and controls the optical disc so as to back up the search information corresponding to the image files recorded in the optical discs.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a reader for reading image data representing an original image, a compression circuit for compressing the image data read by the reader, and an MPU for causing the compression circuit to compress specific data before image data from the reader is compressed and for determining if a compression operation is normal. The apparatus also includes an expansion circuit for expanding the compressed data from the compression circuit. The MPU compares the specific data with expanded data obtained by expanding, by the expansion circuit, the compressed data obtained by compressing the specific data.

Abstract: A window constructed such that a window sash is slidable upwardly and downwardly along a side jamb of a window, and may be inclined relative to the side jamb. The window sash is hung by a counterbalance and held at a selected desired position. The counterbalance is provided with a coiled torsion spring which counter balances the window sash, and the torsion force of the torsion spring can be adjusted. Adjusting mechanism is provided with a rotatable adjusting shaft for adjusting the torsion force of the torsion spring, a braking member for applying braking force to the adjusting shaft to prevent the rotation of the adjusting shaft, and a cam face for urging the braking member against the adjusting shaft to brake it or release it.

Abstract: A data retrieval system with a keyboard for entering data retrieval conditions. The system includes a first memory for storing subject data to be searched, a second memory for storing data required for searching the subject data, a comparator unit capable of determining whether or not the selected data is greater than, less than or equal to a preset data, and third memory for storing retrieval conditions. The contents of the first, second and third memories is placed into the comparator unit in synchronism with each other.
