  • Publication number: 20240107397
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support reselection procedures for power saving in industrial internet of things (IIoT) operations. In a first aspect, a method of wireless communication includes a user equipment (UE) setting a reselection flag to a no-reselection state either by default or in response to a source cell signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) exceeding a predetermined maximum SNR. The UE can set the flag to the allow-reselection state in response to the target cell SNR range exceeding the source cell SNR range or the source cell SNR being below a predetermined minimum SNR. The UE may then either reselect to the target cell when appropriate or maintain service on the source cell based on the state of the reselection flag. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

  • Publication number: 20230396397
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) includes: a first subscriber identity module (SIM) associated with a first service provider subscription and a second SIM associated with a second service provider subscription; the US is configured to operate the first service provider subscription in an active-mode and operating the second service provider subscription in an idle mode; and the UE is further configured to signal a changing quantity of multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) layers available to the first service provider subscription in response to radio frequency (RF) resource sharing with the second service provider subscription for a paging operation of the second service provider subscription.

  • Publication number: 20230345413
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for merging pages in communications systems using carrier aggregation (CA) or secondary component carriers (SCCs). An example method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes: operating in a connected mode using a default data subscription (DDS) associated with a primary cell (PCell); detecting one or more secondary cells (SCells) associated with the DDS are configured for operating in the connected mode; and decoding one or more paging messages using at least a secondary component carrier (SCC) associated with a first SCell of the one or more SCells.

  • Publication number: 20230292207
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to wireless communications, and more particularly, to techniques for rapidly camping on frequencies for a second (e.g., non-legacy) radio access technology (RAT) after discontinuing communications using a first (e.g., legacy) RAT. An example method generally includes terminating an active communications session on a first radio access technology (RAT), measuring signal strength of one or more frequencies supporting a second RAT in a configured list of frequencies, identifying a frequency to camp on based on a priority and a measured signal strength of each frequency in the configured list of frequencies, and camping on the identified frequency.

  • Patent number: 11310768
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described to support monitoring for paging messages from a base station (e.g., a cellular network node) using a greater periodicity than a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle periodicity. A UE may monitor for and receive paging messages from a network node using a first subscription registered with a first radio access technology (RAT) while operating in DRX mode for a second RAT associated with the base station. The UE may identify a first periodicity for monitoring for paging messages from the base station that is greater than the DRX periodicity. The UE may have a second subscription that may be registered with a second base station. The UE may perform a tuneaway procedure from the second base station and monitor for paging messages from the base station according to the first periodicity.
