  • Publication number: 20150082834
Abstract: A method and apparatus for tempering glass sheets. The glass sheets are heated to a tempering temperature in a furnace, in which the glass sheets are moved back and forth while supported upon rolls. The heated glass sheets are fed into a quench unit which is divided into two quenching zones with separately controlled blasting pressures. The glass sheets are driven without stopping through the first quenching zone into the second quenching zone, in which the glass is moved back forth upon the rolls. In the first quenching zone, cooling air is blasted onto glass sheet surfaces with slit nozzles. In the second quenching zone, cooling air is blasted onto glass sheet surfaces with hole-type nozzles.

  • Patent number: 8322162
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of heating glass panels for tempering. The horizontal glass panels are heated in a lehr by upper and lower convection blast and by upper and lower radiation heating, information representing a load of the glass panels and used for the control and/or regulation of heating is read, the upper radiation heating is controlled and/or regulated in the way of a matrix by a profiling both in a conveying direction and a direction lateral thereto. At least the upper convection blast is controlled and/or regulated in various sections of the lehr in the way of a matrix by a profiling both in a conveying direction and a direction lateral thereto, and the relative blast effects of convection blowing elements successive in the conveying direction are regulated for a profiling in the conveying direction. The invention relates also to an apparatus applying the method.

  • Publication number: 20080178989
Abstract: A method and apparatus for laminating glass panels in which a sandwich structure to be laminated is preheated by radiation heat (7, 8), whereafter the sandwich structure is heated by bilateral hot air blasting concurrently with radiation heating. Convection heating elements for blasting hot air include conveyor rolls (3), which are hollow and apertured. Radiation heating elements (11, 12) apply heat to the sandwich structure by direction radiation heating and additionally warm up convection air circulated in the heating chamber.

  • Patent number: 7127918
Abstract: A method and apparatus for heating glass sheets in preparation of tempering. A furnace (1) is provided with upper and lower convection blasting conduits (11, 14) extending lengthwise of the furnace. The furnace is also provided with upper and lower radiation heating elements (12, 16). The convection heating air is pressurized with a compressor (3), cleaned with a filter (4). The upper convection heating air is heated with air discharged from the furnace in a plurality of separate heat exchangers (7), through which the convection heating air is passed into the upper convection blasting conduits (11). The amount of air discharged from the furnace (1) through the heat exchangers (7) is substantially equal to that blasted into the furnace for convection heating.

  • Publication number: 20050274373
Abstract: Glass panels are heated in a heating oven while supported on rolls. The glass panels are heated form above and below with convection air or with a combination of convection air and radiation heat. The convection air is heated by electric resistance elements and/or a combustible gas. The convection air passes through heat exchangers disposed in the oven en route to the glass panels.
