Publication number: 20240096062Abstract: Methods, systems, and non-transitory computer readable storage media are disclosed for automatically detecting and reconstructing patterns in digital images. The disclosed system determines structurally similar pixels of a digital image by comparing neighborhood descriptors that include the structural context for neighborhoods of the pixels. In response to identify structurally similar pixels of a digital image, the disclosed system utilizes non-maximum suppression to reduce the set of structurally similar pixels to collinear pixels within the digital image. Additionally, the disclosed system determines whether a group of structurally similar pixels define the boundaries of a pattern cell that forms a rectangular grid pattern within the digital image. The disclosed system also modifies a boundary of a detected pattern cell to include a human-perceived pattern object via a sliding window corresponding to the pattern cell.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 15, 2022Publication date: March 21, 2024Inventors: Tarun Beri, Vineet Agarwal, Matthew Fisher

Publication number: 20230316311Abstract: A guided search system for suggesting and arranging filter criteria within a user interface for presentation to a user to help guide the user’s search for listings is disclosed. The system builds one or more filter criteria frequency data structures indicative of the number of times each filter criterion has been used to filter search results and how often different filter criteria are used together. The system uses the frequency data structures to predict which filter criteria a user will likely employ to narrow their search given the filter criteria the user has already used. The system provides techniques for arranging or rearranging filter criteria within a user interface, by moving, placing, or ordering suggested filter criteria within the user interface, where a user is likely to be able to recognize and interact with the placed filter criteria, based on the determined amounts of use.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 31, 2023Publication date: October 5, 2023Inventors: Farah Abdallah, Andrei Lopatenko, Tarun Agarwal, Arun Balagopalan, Jackson R. Gibbons

Patent number: 10339465Abstract: During a training phase of a machine learning model, representations of at least some nodes of a decision tree are generated and stored on persistent storage in depth-first order. A respective predictive utility metric (PUM) value is determined for one or more nodes, indicating expected contributions of the nodes to a prediction of the model. A particular node is selected for removal from the tree based at least partly on its PUM value. A modified version of the tree, with the particular node removed, is stored for obtaining a prediction.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2014Date of Patent: July 2, 2019Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Robert Matthias Steele, Tarun Agarwal, Leo Parker Dirac, Jun Qian
