  • Publication number: 20240084937
Abstract: A coupler for aseptically coupling and controlling fluid communication between at least two components. The coupler includes a first connector housing with an inner concave surface. A first connector extends from the top of the first connector housing and is adapted to connect to a first component. A first connector conduit extends through the first connector and into the first connector housing so as to define a fluid passageway to an inner opening on the inner surface of the first connector housing. A rotary valve is located within an inner cavity of the first connector housing and includes at least two rotary valve segments. The rotary valve segments are configured to rotate within the cavity. At least one of the rotary valve segments includes a fluid conduit extending through the at least one rotary valve segment.

  • Publication number: 20230047183
Abstract: An aseptic closure system for attaching to a container including an upper section and a lower section that are removably attached to one another. Each section includes a valve housing with a rotary valve mounted in a bore extending through the valve housing. The upper section has an inlet port and an outlet port, each with a conduit providing fluid communication through the port to an interior of the upper valve housing. The lower section is adapted to mount to a container. The lower valve housing includes two conduits that permit fluid communication through the lower valve housing to an interior of the lower section. The rotation of the rotary valves closes off flow through the conduits in the respective housings.

  • Patent number: 8827820
Abstract: A flexible shaft for transmitting torque, for example between a motor and an automobile seat to be adjusted. The shaft has a core including one or more wire layers helically wound in opposite winding directions. The outer layer has a number of wires with a circular cross-section and at least one flat wire. The wires of the outer layer are helically wound in a winding direction opposite to that of the adjacent layer. The flat wire has a thickness substantially less than the maximum diameter of the outer layer wires of circular cross-section. A strand of flocked yarn is wound on the flat wire and protrudes above the adjacent wires of the outer layer, to engage the inner wall of a surrounding casing and reduce noise when the shaft is rotated within the casing.

  • Patent number: 8425334
Abstract: A flexible shaft having square or helical square tips with thermoplastic felt covering and adherent to the tips including the tip ends. The felt has fused bulges adjacent the ends. When the tips are inserted into mating recesses of driving and driven members, the felt is deformed to improve the fit between the tips and the recesses and reduce noise and vibration when the driving member is rotated.

  • Patent number: 8382596
Abstract: A rotary flexible shaft for coupling between driving and driven member having female couplings has ends of noncircular cross-section. A strand of compressible material such as flocked yarn is helically wrapped around each end so as to leave spaces between turns which expose portions of the lateral surfaces of the ends. A coating of a silicone adhesive or other elastomer, or of a highly ductile material such as polytetrafluoroethylene, covers and is adherent to the strands and the exposed portions of the lateral surfaces of the shaft ends. Instead of a strand, the compressible material may constitute spaced ridges, islands, and/or protuberances adhering to the shaft ends.
