Patent number: 7231284Abstract: In a controller unit for a hybrid vehicle, a generation controller controls the quantity of electric power generated by a motor generator, and a fuel cut controller stops fuel supply to the engine if a predetermined fuel cut condition is satisfied. The generation controller controls so that the quantity of electric power generated is set at predetermined values according to the engine speed, and is set at different values, at the same engine speed, according to whether the fuel cut occurs or not. Thus, the quantity of power generation does not decrease more than needed to prevent engine stall. When the fuel cut is not performed, the generation controller in particular increases the quantity of power generation, which charges the battery more and reduces fuel consumption.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2004Date of Patent: June 12, 2007Assignee: Suzuki Motor CorporationInventors: Yoshiki Itoh, Tatsuji Mori, Norihiro Noda

Patent number: 7130731Abstract: An automatic stop/start controller having an engine, a motor generator to drive the engine, and an automatic transmission. The automatic stop/start controller permits the engine to stop and start without operation of an ignition key. At start of the engine by not operation of the ignition key and after the engine is started to drive by the motor generator, a control means corrects to increase the torque generated by the motor generator according to the degree of the engagement of frictional engaging elements of the automatic transmission.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2004Date of Patent: October 31, 2006Assignee: Suzuki Motor CorporationInventors: Yoshiki Itoh, Tatsuji Mori, Norihiro Noda

Patent number: 7096099Abstract: A controller for a hybrid vehicle in which the torque is output from an engine and/or an electric motor and is transmitted to drive wheels through a fluid torque converter and a transmission. The controller includes a motor output torque limiter to restrict the output torque from the electric motor such that the torque increased by the fluid torque converter does not exceed permissible torque which is acceptable for the transmission to receive when the electric motor in addition to the engine is driven.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2004Date of Patent: August 22, 2006Assignee: Suzuki Motor CorporationInventors: Yoshiki Itoh, Tatsuji Mori, Norihiro Noda

Patent number: 7083020Abstract: An automatic stop/start controller for an engine which automatically stops and starts the engine without operation of an ignition key. In automatically stopping the engine without operation of the ignition key, a control means prevents an automatic stop of the engine if a direction indicator of the vehicle is activated. If the direction indicator is activated after the engine is automatically stopped, the control means immediately automatically starts the engine without operation of the ignition key. The control means also prevents an automatic stop of the engine unless the distance traveled by a vehicle, after the engine has automatically started, is greater than a predetermined automatic stop prohibit distance.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2004Date of Patent: August 1, 2006Assignee: Suzuki Motor CorporationInventors: Kazuhiko Morimoto, Tatsuji Mori, Norihiro Noda, Yoshiki Itoh

Patent number: 7073616Abstract: A controller for a hybrid vehicle includes a slip controller which controls a lockup mechanism to slip in a set driving range, and an assist limiter which restricts assist of the motor generator in the range where slip occurs.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2004Date of Patent: July 11, 2006Assignee: Suzuki Motor CorporationInventors: Yoshiki Itoh, Tatsuji Mori, Norihiro Noda

Patent number: 7055635Abstract: An electric power regeneration control unit is provided for a hybrid vehicle. A motor generator is operated by a driving force received from an engine or drive wheels. A lockup clutch engages or disengages rotational members on input and output sides of a fluid torque converter, and is engaged or partially engaged after canceling fuel cut and increasing intake air quantity for the engine when an accelerator is released within a predetermined range A controller enables the motor generator to generate electric power when the accelerator is below a certain opening angle. An engagement finish determining device determines whether engagement of the lockup clutch is finished. The controller controls to prevent fuel cut, discontinue an increase in intake air quantity and starts electric power generation if the engagement finish determining device determines that lockup clutch engagement is finished.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2004Date of Patent: June 6, 2006Assignee: Suzuki Motor CorporationInventors: Yoshiki Itoh, Tatsuji Mori, Norihiro Noda

Patent number: 6942594Abstract: An automatic stop/start controller for a vehicle having an engine, an electric motor to drive the engine, and an automatic transmission. The automatic stop/start controller permits the engine to stop or start without operation of an ignition key. The controller starts fuel supply to the engine after the engine is started by the electric motor and when it is determined that frictional engaging elements of the automatic transmission are engaged, in a case where the engine is started without the operation of the ignition key.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2004Date of Patent: September 13, 2005Assignee: Suzuki Motor CorporationInventors: Yoshiki Itoh, Tatsuji Mori, Norihiro Noda

Patent number: 6895917Abstract: An automatic stop/start controller for an engine, having an air conditioner which employs a coolant or driving force of the engine to control the air in a driver's compartment. The engine can be stopped and started without operation of an ignition key. After a predetermined automatic stop condition is satisfied and the engine is automatically stopped, a control unit maintains the engine in a stopped state as long as the duration of an automatic stop of the engine is shorter than an automatic stop maximum time set based on air temperature at an inlet of the air conditioner.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2004Date of Patent: May 24, 2005Assignee: Suzuki Motor CorporationInventors: Yoshiki Itoh, Tatsuji Mori, Norihiro Noda
