    Abstract: An internal reforming type fuel cell comprising, as reforming regions packed with a reforming catalyst, a first reforming region which is thermally held in contact with a unit fuel cell and which does not adjoin a fuel gas side electrode and a second reforming region which adjoins the fuel gas side electrode. Part of a fuel gas externally supplied is reformed in the first reforming region, whereupon the partly reformed fuel gas is supplied into the second reforming region.
