  • Patent number: 6308520
Abstract: A multi-type pulse-tube refrigerating system includes a common compressor 1 having a sucking port 1b and a discharging port 1a, a plurality of paralleled pressure changeover valve units 21, 22 and 23 connecting between the sucking port 1b and the discharging port 1a of the compressor 1, and a plurality of pulse-tube based cryogenic temperature generating devices 310, 410 and 510 connected to the respective pressure changeover valve units 21, 22 and 23. Employing such cryogenic temperature generating devices 310, 410 and 510, each of which is void of moving parts, limits vibrations. Moreover, instead of the pressure changeover valve units 21, 22 and 23, employing a common pressure changeover valve unit 24 for the units 21, 22 and 23 makes the refrigerating system more compact.

  • Publication number: 20010032469
Abstract: In a pulse tube refrigerator the refrigeration efficiency has been improved by reducing the on-off valve loss. A second space 47 in a cylinder member 41 is connected with a second high pressure on-off valve 23 and a second low pressure on-off valve 24. A buffer side on-off valve 25 is provided between the buffer space (a buffer tank 50) and the second space 47. By opening the buffer side on-off valve 25 before the second high pressure on-off valve 23 or the second low pressure on-off valve 24 is open, the pressure in the second space 47 can be the intermediate pressure. Since the pressure difference when the valves are open is decreased, the on-off valve loss can be decreased.

  • Publication number: 20010021625
Abstract: A polishing surface cleaning method and apparatus are capable of effectively removing the polishing residue from the polishing surface of a polishing table in a polisher by using a minimal amount of cleaning liquid. In the polisher, a workpiece to be polished is pressed against the polishing surface of the polishing table to polish the workpiece by relative motion between the polishing surface and the workpiece. The polishing surface cleaning apparatus uses mixing spray nozzles for mixing together a cleaning liquid and a gas and spraying the resulting fluid mixture on the polishing surface to clean it.

  • Patent number: 6196006
Abstract: A higher temperature end of a pulse tube is connected to a lower side of a supporting member so as to position at a lower temperature end of the pulse tube at a lower position. Such a structure prevents free convection of a working gas in the pulse tube, which is a cause of reduced refrigerating efficiency. If a cold head is desired to be contacted with a member to be cooled down from its (lower) side, such a need can be satisfied by mounting the cold head on the lower temperature end of the pulse tube (a lower temperature end of a regenerator).

  • Patent number: 6188495
Abstract: A transmission optical signal emitted from a laser diode is introduced in an S-polarized state to a polarization-reflection film formed on an inclined surface of a prism. This transmission optical signal is in a light quantity that is reflected by the polarization-reflection film to enter an optical fiber. With this configuration, an optical transmission-reception apparatus for a single-core bi-directional optical communication circuit enables an enhancement of the efficiency of introduction of the transmission optical signal into the optical fiber constituting the optical communication circuit so that a sufficient performance and reliability of the optical communication circuit is realized without increasing the light quantity emitted from the laser diode which outputs the transmission optical signal.

  • Patent number: 5966944
Abstract: A superconducting magnet system, such as an NMR apparatus, is outfitted with a compact-size refrigerator that prevents mechanical vibrations produced by the refrigerator from being transmitted to the superconducting magnet system. The refrigerator is in the form of a pulse tube refrigerator having a cold head and a pressure oscillation generating source. The cold head of the pulse tube refrigerator is connected directly to a vacuum insulation vessel of the superconducting magnet system. Cold generated from the cold head cools a cooling device, for example, a liquid helium tank for cooling the superconducting coil, or a heat penetration reducing device, for example, a liquid nitrogen tank, for reducing heat penetration from outside.

  • Patent number: 5845498
Abstract: A pulse tube refrigerator according to the present invention is capable of performing cryogenic operation sufficiently. The cryostat includes regenerators and pulse tubes. Each regenerator has a cold stage at an upper end thereof. Each pulse tube has a low-temperature end portion at a lower end thereof and a high-temperature end portion thereof, the low-temperature end portion being located lower than the cold stage. The cold stage and the low-temperature end portion are connected to each other through a line whose cubic volume is substantially negligible in comparison with that of the pulse tube. Since the pulse tube has working gas of relatively high density in an upper portion thereof and working gas of relatively low density in a lower portion thereof, there is no convection of working gas induced by the gravity. Thus, the cryostat performs cryogenic operation sufficiently without being adversely affected.
