  • Patent number: 6367385
Abstract: In an ink film thickness control method for a multi-color printing press having a plurality of printing units for continuously performing designated color printing on a printing paper by means of ink supplied to a printing plate through an ink roller group, when in at least two of the printing units are plate exchange printing units, exchange to new printing plates are simultaneously performed, the number of printing sheets to be printed for ink removing is set in units of plate exchange printing units. The ink feed operation in each plate exchange printing unit is turned off. Printing for ink removing is performed in each plate exchange printing unit on the basis of the set number of printing sheets while keeping the previous printing plate mounted, thereby forming a first ink film thickness distribution minimum and necessary for printing on the ink roller group of the plate exchange printing unit. An ink film thickness control apparatus is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6143074
Abstract: There is disclosed a coating device which can apply varnish to both faces of paper in a simple constitution. The coating device is provided with a pressure drum 12 for receiving paper from a transfer drum 11 and holding the paper, a first varnish application device 13 for applying varnish to a surface of the paper held by the pressure drum 12 and a second varnish application device 15 which applies the varnish to a rubber blanket on a peripheral face of the pressure drum 12 on an upstream side of a position in which the pressure drum 12 receives the paper. At the same time when the pressure drum 12 receives the paper, the varnish can be applied to the rear face of the paper.

  • Patent number: 5826508
Abstract: An inking apparatus for a printing press includes an ink supplying unit, an ink form roller, an oscillating roller, and an ink ductor roller. The ink supplying unit has an ink fountain for storing an ink, and an ink fountain roller having a circumferential surface on which a film of the ink supplied from the ink fountain is formed. The ink supplying unit supplies the ink on the circumferential surface of the ink fountain roller to an ink transfer line for a plate cylinder. The ink form roller supplies the ink, supplied from the ink supplying unit through the ink transfer line, to a plate mounted on the plate cylinder. The oscillating roller is disposed along the ink transfer line between the ink fountain roller and the ink form roller to reciprocally move in an axial direction.

  • Patent number: 4836103
Abstract: A cylinder apparatus of a sheet-fed rotary printing press having grippers which are pivotally supported inside a notch in a blanket cylinder brought into rolling contact with a plate cylinder and which is located in a vicinity of the leading edge of a printing plate on the plate cylinder, wherein phases of rotation of the plate and blanket cylinders are arranged such that the leading edge of the printing plate opposes a front end of the notch formed in the blanket cylinder which is located at a slightly advanced position with respect to a leading edge of the blanket, and a cam surface of a cam for opening/closing the grippers is shaped in such a manner that the grippers are kept opened when the leading edge of the printing plate opposes the front end of the notch formed in the blanket cylinder.
