  • Patent number: 5529224
Abstract: A self-closing liquid dispensing package comprises a liquid container and a self-closing flat channel valve. The channel valve has an inlet adjacent to and in liquid communication with the liquid container. It also has a mouth, a first sheet member, and a second sheet member wherein the first and second sheet members have an original planar position and longitudinal edges, are indexed face-to-face, and are sealed together along longitudinal edges and wherein the first and second sheet members are sufficiently flexible to arch away from each other to form a flow channel therebetween to permit a flow of contained liquid in response to external pressure applied to the liquid container. At least one of the sheet members is sufficiently resilient to return the first and second sheet members to the original planar position when the external pressure is released.
