Patent number: 7641280Abstract: When a pressure receiving plate provided at a seat back moves to a rear side of a vehicle body when a vehicle is collided from behind, a Bowden cable transmits movement of the pressure receiving plate to a headrest ascending mechanism as a tensile load, thereby quickly ascending a headrest to reliably hold a head of an occupant. The Bowden cable transmits only the tensile load, and hence the Bowden cable is not buckled. Reduction in weight is made possible as compared with the case using a rod for transmitting a compression load. Since the Bowden cable is light, it is not required to unreasonably place the pressure receiving plate at a position near the headrest ascending mechanism for reduction in weight, and hence the pressure receiving plate can be placed at the optimal position where a sufficient driving force is obtained at the time of collision. Thus, a headrest is ascended with favorable responsiveness upon a rear-end collision of a vehicle while using a thin transmission member with low rigidity.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2005Date of Patent: January 5, 2010Assignee: Honda Motor Co., Ltd.Inventors: Koji Uno, Koji Sano, Tatsuya Terauchi

Publication number: 20090309398Abstract: A vehicle seat of the invention has an upper movable member (10) supporting a headrest (3), a lower movable member (30) provided inside a backrest, and a coupling mechanism for coupling the upper movable member and the lower movable member. The coupling mechanism includes an upper link mechanism (15) positioned in an upper part of a side frame (40) and coupled to the upper movable member, a lower link mechanism (32) positioned in a lower part of the side frame and coupled to the lower movable member, and a rod (27) extending along the side frame and coupling the upper link mechanism and the lower link mechanism. The upper link mechanism amplifies a backward moving amount of the lower movable member, and moves the headrest forward.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 22, 2005Publication date: December 17, 2009Applicants: TS Tech Co., Ltd., Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kenichi Niitsuma, Hirooki Negishi, Jinichi Tanabe, Koji Sano, Koji Uno, Tatsuya Terauchi, Tomoki Matsumoto

Patent number: 6422590Abstract: A holder for mounting an air bag module, the holder including a bottomed, substantially box-like body having a peripheral wall and an opening, the holder adapted to be fastened to a side plate of a seat back frame in a cavity of a back pad with the opening thereof facing a body of an automotive vehicle and with a bottom plate section thereof being applied to the side plate, and wrapped at the peripheral wall thereof by margin pieces which are provided around an opening portion in a side of a seat cover, rolled in the holder from the opening of the holder, and fastened to the holder, the air bag module having an air bag housed within an air bag case, the air bag module adapted to be incorporated in the holder and fastened to the side plate through the holder, whereby the air bag module is installed in the side of the seat back, the holder further including flanges, and at least first and second brittle sections serving as breaking portions, the peripheral wall including a front side wall section facing a frontType: GrantFiled: August 28, 2001Date of Patent: July 23, 2002Assignees: TS Tech Co., Ltd., Honda Giken Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Fumio Umezawa, Tatsuya Terauchi, Makoto Kurita, Naohiro Takahashi, Hiroyuki Ito

Patent number: 6386577Abstract: A module case having an air bag module accommodated therein is disposed in a side face of a seat back, so that a lid of the module case is opened by a pressure of an air bag expanded upon a side collision of a vehicle, and the air bag is deployed through the resulting opening, termed the “primary” opening into a vehicle compartment. As a result of a tear line provided in the module case, even if the lid is held down by the door which has been deformed by a shock resulting from the collision, so that the lid cannot be opened to provide the primary opening, the tear line in a case body of the module case is broken, whereby a front wall is pivoted forwardly to form an alternate or “secondary” opening from the module case. Therefore, the air bag can be deployed without hindrance through the alternate secondary opening defined in the front wall of the module case into the vehicle compartment.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2000Date of Patent: May 14, 2002Assignee: Honda Giken Kogyokabushiki KaishaInventors: Makoto Kan, Takashi Honda, Naotoshi Takemura, Takashi Aoki, Tatsuya Terauchi, Naohiro Takahashi
