  • Publication number: 20230409854
Abstract: Systems and methods of conducting a bar code scan using an imaging-based bar code scan device are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, a method is performed by an imaging-based bar code device that includes processing circuitry, an optical lens assembly having an image sensor and an optical lens with a focused region at a certain distance in front of the optical lens along an optical axis of the optical lens, a plurality of light emitting elements configured proximate the optical lens and laterally offset from the optical axis. The method includes sending, by the processing circuitry, to each light emitting element, an indication to enable that light emitting element to project a light beam towards the optical axis in the focused region so that the light beams overlap when a target bar code is in the focused region and nonoverlap when a target bar code is outside the focused region.

  • Patent number: 11210727
Abstract: Systems and methods for managing and facilitating combined purchase of items by multiple customers are disclosed. According to an aspect, a method includes receiving, from a computing device, notification by a first user to purchase one or more items. The method also includes determining whether to match the first user with a second user for combined purchase of the one or more items. Further, the method includes associating the first user with the second user for combined purchase of the one or more items in response to determining that the first user matches the second user.

  • Patent number: 10713455
Abstract: Embodiments include a method and associated point-of-sale (POS) terminals. The method comprises receiving a receptacle into a stationary position within a scan zone arranged proximately to a surface. The receptacle contains one or more items. The method further comprises acquiring, using a first visual sensor having a predefined disposition relative to the surface, first image information that includes a first view and at least a second view of the scan zone. The second view is provided via a first mirror of one or more mirrors disposed near the surface and arranged around the scan zone. The second view includes a view of the one or more items relative to a surface of the receptacle. The method further comprises identifying, using image analysis of the first image information, the one or more items.

  • Patent number: 9915695
Abstract: Examples provided herein describe a female connector in a computing device that includes a plurality of sensors for determining if a male connector has established a proper connection with the female connector. To do so, in one example, each of the sensors is coupled to an actuator that protrudes into an aperture defined by an inner surface of the female connector. As the male connector is inserted into this aperture, the actuators are pressed down which activates the sensors. Furthermore, the actuators are arranged such that a first actuator is deeper within the aperture than a second actuator. Thus, if the male connector pressed down the first actuator but not the second, a computing device can determine that only a partially connection was made. By using at least two actuators arranged at different depths in the aperture, the computing device is able to detect a proper or improper connection.
