Patent number: 8237860Abstract: A system for detecting poor video editing detects a television (TV) image signal. When a TV image originates from a film signal rather than a video signal, a de-interlacing device performs a de-interlacing at a film signal mode to thereby increase a vertical resolution of a TV image signal. A sawtooth detector can detect a poor video editing, which causes a sawtooth occurrence to TV image signals, on an unbroadcasted TV image signal. Accordingly, the poor video editing is found in advance. Also, the invention uses a scene change in combination with the sawtooth detector to thereby avoid a poor edited image and obtain a preferred image quality.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2008Date of Patent: August 7, 2012Assignee: Sunplus Technology Co., Ltd.Inventors: Te-Sung Su, Yen-Lin Chen

Patent number: 8115865Abstract: A de-interlacing system with an adaptive edge threshold has a motion factor generator to produce a motion factor of a position in accordance with a previous and a next fields. An adaptive edge threshold generator produces the adaptive edge threshold in accordance with a current, the previous and the next fields. A determinator determines which pixels are used to perform an interpolation on the position. When the motion factor is greater than the adaptive edge threshold, a pixel of the current field is used to perform an interpolation on the position. When the motion factor is smaller than the adaptive edge threshold, a pixel of the previous field and a pixel of the next field are used to perform an interpolation on the position.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2008Date of Patent: February 14, 2012Assignee: Sunplus Technology Co., Ltd.Inventors: Te-Sung Su, Yen-Lin Chen
