The hammer head assembly has a claw portion, a central portion, a head portion and a relieved connecting portion between the head portion and the central portion. The head portion has a flat top wall surface. The front surface of the head portion has a plurality of recesses formed therein with no protrusions extending outwardly from the front surface. The recesses cover at least 30 percent of the surface. The recesses may be aligned in rows and columns and they provide a better gripping surface when they strike the head of a nail.

    Abstract: A hammer having a plastic molded handle. The rear end of the handle has a longitudinally extending bore hole that is filled with a gelatinous material that dissipates shock vibrations. An end cap is secured to the rear end of the handle by sonic welding. The front end of the handle has both a vertical and a horizontal longitudinally extending slot and these slots intersect each other at a substantially 90 degree angle. A plastic wedge unit formed from intersecting wedge sections is driven into the slots in the top end of the handle to secure the hammer head and the wedge unit is sonic welded to the handle.

    Abstract: A security cover plate assembly for a barrel hinge and the assembly has an inner cover plate and an outer cover plate. The inner cover plate has a flat wall portion and a curved wall portion. The outer cover plate has a flat wall portion and a curved wall portion and a top wall and a bottom wall extend from the respective top and bottom edges of its curved wall portion to cover its respective top and bottom ends. These top and bottom walls prevent access to the hinge pin of a conventional barrel hinge for a door, a window, a boat hatch, or any other installation when the security cover plate assembly plate has been installed in combination therewith. At least one pin extends transversely from the flat wall portion of one of the flat wall portions and the other of the flat wall portions has a pin receiving aperture. The transversely extending pins prevent removal of a door from its hinge assembly even if the hinge pin has been removed.

    Abstract: A method of assemblying a hammer from a handle, a wedge unit and a hammer head unit. The handle has a top end having a neck portion that has a pair of vertical slots that intersect each other at substantially 90 degrees to each other. The wedge unit is formed from an x-axis wedge and a z-axis wedge section that are oriented to each other at substantially 90 degrees. The hammer head unit has a hammer portion a central portion and a claw portion. The central portion has a bore hole that extends from its top surface to its bottom surface. An arbor press is used to press the wedge section into the grooves on the top end of the handle.

    Abstract: A hammer having unique structure in the handle receiving central portion of its hammer head unit. A wedge unit is formed from two intersecting wedge sections that are made of a specific plastic material. The top surface of one of the wedge sections is spaced downwardly a predetermined distance from the top surface of the other wedge section to form a channel for receiving a magnet. The wedge unit is driven into the top end of the hammer causing the wood to be wedged outwardly in four directions within the handle receiving central portion of the hammer head unit. The wedge sections of the wedge unit have a plurality of horizontal barbs and the respective slots formed in the top end of the handle have mating notches for receiving the horizontal barbs of the wedge unit. An epoxy adhesive may also be used to aid in holding the wedge unit in the top end of the handle.

    Abstract: A hammer having unique structure in the handle receiving central portion of its hammer read unit. A wedge unit is formed from two intersecting wedge sections driven into the top end of the handle of the hammer causing the wood to be wedge outwardly in four directions within the handle receiving central portion of the hammer head unit. The wedge unit has a groove in the top surface of one of the wedge sections that allows a nail to be layed horizontally along the top surface of the wedge with part of the nail passing through grooves in the side walls of the handle receiving central portion of the hammer head unit. The wedge unit is also made of magnetic material thereby allowing the nail to be temporarily captured by the wedge unit during the initial stroke of the hammer.
