Patent number: 6016982Abstract: A reel for fishing is capable of mounting a fishing rod in its leading end in the direction in which a fishline is played out. The reel for fishing has a reel body which is provided with a spool on which the fishline is wound up, a handle to be driven to rotate the spool in the fishline-winding-up direction, and a grip portion to be held integrally with the reel body at the time of actual fishing. An opening is formed in the reel body, which opening is capable of smoothly thumbing the spool along the direction of the thumb which is gripping and holding the grip portion.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 1997Date of Patent: January 25, 2000Assignee: Daiwa Seiko, Inc.Inventors: Shinichi Asano, Hiroshi Toma, Nobuyuki Yamaguchi, Toshiro Ono, Masaru Akiba, Teiji Matsubara, Mitsuru Sasaki

Patent number: 5572813Abstract: The invention concerns a tag to be mounted on a fishing rod, which enables a customer at a store to read easily the specifications of the rod printed on the tag without touching the tag by hand and also to confirm simply the handling conditions of the rod without fluttering the tag. The tag is mounted on the fishing rod in such a manner that one side of the tag is secured to one of fishing line guides on the rod, a rod receive surface of the tag is put on the rod, and the other side of the tag is tied to the rod by a connecting wire member. The tag is bent formed from a rectangular paper, resin film or the like into a triangular shape in section and includes the rod receive surface and art least one display surface. The specifications of the fishing rod, pictures and the like are printed or affixed on the display surfaces.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 1994Date of Patent: November 12, 1996Assignee: Daiwa Seiko, Inc.Inventor: Teiji Matsubara

Patent number: 5537773Abstract: The present disclosure concerns a fishing rod handle which, when holding the fishing rod at a position forward of its normal holding position (e.g. between the reel and the tip of the fishing rod), allows the fishing rod to be held stably, thereby improving the ability to manipulate the fishing rod. The handle includes a reel leg mounting portion 18 which locates the legs 14A,14B of a reel 14 on a reel leg placement surface 18B and fixes the reel legs 14A,14B with front and rear hoods 12A,12B. The reel leg mounting portion further includes a reduced portion 18C diametrically opposite the reel leg placement surface 18B. An expanded portion 22 is located between the reduced portion 18C and a constricted portion 20C, and swells generally oppositely from the reel leg placement surface 18B. The extended portion 22 is contoured and sized so as to be readily and comfortably received in the palm of an angler's hand.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 1994Date of Patent: July 23, 1996Assignee: Daiwa Seiko, Inc.Inventors: Teiji Matsubara, Tomoyoshi Tsurufuji
