Abstract: A super operating system for a heterogeneous computer system for executing tasks of software that has at least one performance processor, a processor supporting logic, and a hypervisor processor. The super operating system has a performance operating system for the performance processor; a hypervisor operating system for the hypervisor processor and a heterogeneous hypervisor software layer on top of the performance and hypervisor processors and below the performance and hypervisor operating systems. Under the super operating system, the hypervisor processor executes tasks that the hypervisor processor has sufficient processing power to handle and puts the performance processor to a power-conserving state. The hypervisor processor brings the performance processor out of power-conserving state to execute tasks that the hypervisor processor has insufficient processing power to handle. The performance and hypervisor processors simultaneously execute tasks that require combined processing power of all processors.

Abstract: A bridge logic device for a heterogeneous computer system that has at least one performance processor, a processor supporting logic supporting the at least one performance processor to execute tasks of the software, and a hypervisor processor consuming less power than the at least one performance processor is disclosed. The bridge logic device comprises a hypervisor operation logic that maintains status of the system under the at least one performance processor; a processor language translator logic that translates between processor languages of the at least one performance and the hypervisor processors; and a high-speed bus switch that has first, second and third ports for relaying data across any two of the three ports bidirectionally. The switch is connected to the at least one performance processor, the hypervisor processor via the processor language translator logic, and to the processor supporting logic respectively at the first, second, and third port.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for motion estimation for video processing. An embodiment of a method for motion estimation includes the following steps. In the course of motion estimation, integer motion estimation is performed with respect to a macroblock to generate a plurality of integer motion vectors. It is determined, according to a portion of the motion vectors, which correspond to a plurality of block modes, whether the integer motion vectors of each block mode are substantially equal to those of a corresponding upper-layer block mode of the block mode, so as to determine whether to perform or skip fractional motion estimation of the block mode, wherein each corresponding upper-layer block mode(s) of the block modes is greater than the block mode.

Abstract: A display system for simultaneous displaying of windows generated by a plurality of window systems belonging to the same desktop or laptop platform includes a master computer device with its display device and at least one slave computer device, a shared memory, an input means and an output means, as described herein. Each of the master computer device and the at least one slave computer device has a corresponding window system. The shared memory is coupled to the computer devices and is accessible by the master computer device and the at least one slave computer device. The input means receives multiple windows simultaneously generated by the window systems of the master computer device and the at least one slave computer device. The output means generates the multiple windows for the display device of the master computer device. In support of these operations, the master computer device and the at least one slave computer device simultaneously read and write window data stored in the shared memory.

Abstract: An apparatus for managing a running virtual machine on a desktop or laptop platform includes a first computer device, a second computer device and a shared memory. The first computer device has a first switching hypervisor on which a virtual machine runs. The second computer device has a second switching hypervisor, wherein the second switching hypervisor is in communication with the first switching hypervisor. The shared memory is coupled to the first and second computer devices, and is accessible by the first and second switching hypervisors, wherein the first switching hypervisor stores status information of the virtual machine into the shared memory.

Abstract: A photovoltaic cell module and a method of making the same are provided. The photovoltaic cell module includes a first cell including a first transparent conductive substrate, a first photovoltaic conversion layer, and a first electrode layer, at least a second cell electrically connected to the first cell in series; and a second electrode layer electrically connected to the second cell. In the first cell, the first photovoltaic conversion layer is disposed on the first transparent conductive substrate. The first electrode layer is disposed on the first photovoltaic conversion layer and electrically connected to the first transparent conductive substrate. In addition, the present invention also provides the method of making the photovoltaic cell module.

Abstract: A hybrid computer system is provided, including first and second computer devices. The first computer device is configured with the second computer device via a connection unit. Each of the first computer device and the second computer device is capable of operating independently when the first computer device and the second computer device are separated. The first computer device and the second computer device communicate with each other in a master-slave structure and combined with each other into a single system. The peripheral devices of the first and second computer devices are shared, wherein the first and second computer devices are master/slave systems or slave/master systems.

Abstract: An automatic switch method and apparatus are used to set the output current of a USB by slowly increasing the output current under monitoring the voltage on the USB. If the USB could normally operate until the output current reaches a threshold value, a higher level is set for the output current, otherwise a lower level is set instead. The process may be performed periodically to dynamically determine the output current for the USB.

Abstract: A system is disclosed for context-based adaptive binary arithmetic encoding and decoding. The system comprises a calculating device configured to calculate an index value for one of a first bin to be encoded and a second bin to be decoded, a memory device to store context models in cluster, wherein the index value for one of the first bin and the second bin is related to one of the context models, and a binary arithmetic unit configured to serve as one of an encoder for encoding the first bin based on the one context model and a decoder for decoding the second bin based on the one context model.

Abstract: A high voltage transformer for a backlight power source includes a windings base, a core and windings, the windings base having isolating walls disposed exterior thereto through which a primary side region and a secondary side region are formed, the secondary side region being optionally formed with several windings troughs by using of the isolating walls and the windings being wound on the windings troughs, the windings being wound upward layer by layer on a bottom of the windings trough when the windings are wound across the isolating walls in prevention of the windings of different voltages flown therein crossing and contacting with each other and fixed onto a windings fixation post after the windings troughs are full, and the core being received within a hollow structure of the windings base. As such, distance generated from stacking of the windings is served to increase the bearing voltage and reduce length of the transformer.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a baffle assembly is mounted in a washing tower including an inlet, an outlet, a water pump, a blower, and a water tank and includes lower first baffles of U arranged horizontally or in cascade; and higher second baffles of U arranged horizontally or in cascade. The first and second baffles are further arranged in alternating fashion in opposing directions and the first baffles are offset with respect to the second baffles so that incoming water passes a gap between any two adjacent first baffles and leaves through a gap between any two adjacent second baffles by establishing twin cyclones inside space of the first and second baffles. The twin cyclones can increase holdup time of water in the tower and thus increase washing efficiency. The invention also applies to a burning tower by disposing baffle assemblies in at least of one layer fashion.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a baffle assembly structure for producing fluid or flame whirls, which is applied to water-washing or chemical-washing washing towers or heat-resisting burning towers. The structure has a diversion area disposed at a position corresponding to an air inlet in the tower for providing a tangential acceleration for the gas entering into the washing tower or the whirl burning tower, and then the gas will enter into a whirl panel composed of the baffle assembly structure for producing whirls. With the water spray and sprinkle, a good whirling effect will be produced, or a good whirl burning effect is produced for the oil-gas ignition of the whirl burning tower. After different shaped baffles are intersected, arranged and disposed flatly to separate the tower body, the throttle baffle and the baffle produce a negative pressure effect for the gas, so as to improve the water solubility or concentrate the water remained in the washing tower for a chemical washing.

A glass transition temperature (Tg) of the plastic substrate is greater than 150° C. A melt flow index (MFI) of the plastic substrate is greater than 2. A conformal reflective film on the plastic substrate with the bumps is formed. An insulating substrate opposite the plastic plate is provided. A transparent electrode is formed on an inner surface of the insulating substrate. A liquid crystal layer is inserted between the plastic substrate and the insulating substrate.
