  • Patent number: 7761175
Abstract: We discovered that a) a single key can support a multiplicity of ordered groups, b) only a subset of each group needs to be visually represented on the face of a key, c) either multi-tap or predictive methods, or both, can be used to input members of each of the groups, and d) auxiliary keys are a convenient, effective and user-discoverable method to select ordered groups, and to perform the multi-tap function. The objects of: limiting multi-tap depth, reducing keystrokes per symbol, unifying focus, increasing discoverability, graduated discoverability, power, compact presentation, and seamless integration of multi-tap and predictive text methods, can all be achieved by exploiting these discoveries.

  • Publication number: 20090000132
Abstract: A saw handle for reducing the amount of vibration transmitted to a user during use of a saw. The handle includes a resilient material of lower durometer than the blade mount and is interposed between the blade mount and the user's hand in order to absorb and reduce the vibrations transmitted to the user. In one configuration, the resilient material is interposed between the blade mount and the handle in order to isolate handle from the blade mount. In another configuration, the handgrip is of a resilient material devoid of an internal structure. In yet another configuration, the handgrip is of a resilient material with an internal structure, where the internal structure may have an overlapping or non-overlapping configuration.

  • Publication number: 20080048399
Abstract: A leaf seal arrangement is provided in which within a housing there are edge portions to inter associate with non parallel chamfer edges in leaf seal elements. In such circumstances, deflection of the leaf seal elements in an outward direction or inward direction relative to a rotating shaft creates variation in a control gap X, XX between the edges and the chamfer edge. Such increase or decrease in the control gap X, XX adjusts the aerodynamic radial force that is presented to the leaf seal elements whereby those elements can be more accurately maintained at a desired leaf position for optimizing leakage whilst achieving better wear resistance performance.

  • Publication number: 20070126707
Abstract: A touch sensor is disclosed. The sensor includes an electrically resistive layer that covers a touch sensitive area. The sensor further includes an electrically insulative layer that is disposed on the electrically resistive layer. The insulative layer has one or more open areas. Each open area exposes a portion of the resistive layer. The sensor also includes a plurality of electrically conductive segments that are disposed on the insulative layer. Each conductive segment makes electrical contact with the resistive layer through at least one of the open areas in the insulative layer. The conductive segments improve linearity of the touch sensitive area.
