Abstract: A photographic light sensitive silver halide emulsion layer has associated therewith a pyrazoloazole dye-forming coupler having the formula: ##STR1## wherein: R.sup.1 is a substituent bonded to the pyrazolotriazole nucleus by a fully substituted carbon atom;X is hydrogen or a coupling-off group;L is a divalent linking group;R.sup.2, R.sup.3, and R.sup.4 are independently hydrogen or substituent groups; andZ.sub.a, Z.sub.b, and Z.sub.c are independently --C(R')(R")--, .dbd.N--, .dbd.C(R')--, or --NH--, wherein R', and R" are independently H or a substituent, provided that one of either the Z.sub.a --Z.sub.b or the Z.sub.b --Z.sub.c bond is a double bond and the other is a single bond, and provided that when the Z.sub.b --Z.sub.c bond is a double bond, it may form part of a fused ring.

Abstract: A process of preparing an N-(4-chloropyrazolyl) amidoxime comprises reacting a compound of the formula ##STR1## with a compound of the formula ##STR2## to obtain compounds of formulae (IIIA) and/or (IIIB) ##STR3## and converting the compounds of formulae (IIIA) and/or (IIIB) to an amidoxime of formula (II) ##STR4## wherein R and R' independently represent hydrogen or a substituent.

Abstract: The present invention is related to compounds which inhibit pancreatic cholesterol esterase. The compounds have the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is H or C.sub.1-6 alkyl;R.sup.2 is H or C.sub.1-6 alkyl;R.sup.3 is H or C.sub.1-6 alkyl;X is CHR.sup.6, S or O;R.sup.6 is H or C.sub.1-6 alkyl;R.sup.4 is a hydrophobic moiety; and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.

Abstract: Novel cyclic azole couplers and photographic elements containing them are described. The couplers are represented by the following structure: ##STR1## wherein: COUP is a cyclic azole coupler moiety;R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 independently represent hydrogen or a substituent;L is a linking group joining the azole ring and the aryleneoxy group;G is a bi-valent linking group; andm is an integer of 0 to 2.

Abstract: The invention provides new magenta-dye-forming couplers, new magenta dyes formed therefrom, and new photographic elements containing the new couplers. Abstract: A process of preparing 1H-pyrazolo [1,5-b][1,2,4] triazole compounds represented by formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R and R' independently represent H or a substituent, and X represents a coupling-off substituent, comprises subjecting an amidoxime of formula (II) ##STR2## to a cyclization reaction to obtain the compound of formula (I).

Abstract: A process of preparing 1H-pyrazolo [1,5-b][1,2,4] triazole compounds represented by formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R and R' are independently hydrogen or a substituent and X is hydrogen or a coupling-off group, comprises subjecting a compound of formula (II) ##STR2## wherein Y and Z are each substituent groups and n is 0, 1 or 2, to a cyclization reaction.
