    Abstract: A base station measures the uplink load on an uplink channel and controls the transmit timing of one or more mobile terminals on the uplink channel based on the measurements of the uplink load. The transmit timing of the mobile terminals may be controlled by sending timing control signals to the mobile terminals over a downlink control channel. In one embodiment, the transmit timing of the uplink channel is slaved to the transmit timing on a downlink channel. In this case, the uplink timing may be controlled by adjusting the downlink transmit timing.

    Abstract: A system for broadcasting digital information includes a digital video front end processor configured to process a digital video signal for broadcast by a digital video transmitter. The digital signal includes a plurality of sequential datagrams and the digital video front end processor may be configured to generate a digital transmission stream in response to the digital video signal and to modulate the digital transmission stream. The system further includes a first transmitter configured to receive the modulated digital transmission stream from the front end and to broadcast the modulated digital transmission stream over a first communication interface, and a second transmitter configured to receive the plurality of datagrams and to transmit selected ones of the plurality of datagrams to a receiving terminal over a second communication interface different from the first communication interface in response to a request from the receiving terminal.

    Abstract: Two voltage regulators are provided with the input for the second voltage regulator series connected to the output of the first voltage regulator, and the first voltage regulator powering a first circuit as well as the second voltage regulator. The second voltage regulator powers another circuit at a lower voltage than the first circuit so that when the first circuit does not require a high voltage, the output voltage of the first voltage regulator is reduced, and, therefore, the input voltage to the second voltage regulator is reduced, decreasing the voltage drop across, and the power dissipated in, the second voltage regulator.
