  • Patent number: 9301797
Abstract: A bipolar forceps includes a shaft extending from a housing and includes an end effector assembly at its distal end. The end effector assembly has a pair of jaw members movable between an open position and a closed position. A knife assembly includes a cutter having a generally circular cross-section. The cutter is configured to cut tissue when the jaw members are in the closed position. One or more electrically conductive tissue sealing plates are disposed on each of the jaw members. The tissue sealing plates are adapted to connect to an electrosurgical energy source configured to deliver electrosurgical energy to tissue held between the jaw members to effect a tissue seal. An actuator is operably coupled to the knife assembly and is configured to selectively reciprocate the cutter relative to the jaw members.

  • Publication number: 20090024123
Abstract: Forceps include a first and a second blade, both of which have an inner surface, an outer surface, a tip end, and a proximal end. The forceps also include a blade adjustment joint disposed adjacent to the proximal ends of the first and the second blades and both blades are rotateably connected to the blade adjustment joint. The blade adjustment joint selectively allows the first and second blades to rotate independently of each other or prevents both blades from rotating independently of each other. The blade adjustment joint permits the first blade to rotate or pivot in relation to the second blade and visa versa, so the tips of the forceps can be realigned simply and easily. Additionally, the blade adjustment joint in one condition prevents the first blade and second blade from rotating, locking the blades in position for use.

  • Publication number: 20080294190
Abstract: An adjustable hand-held surgical instrument is provided and includes a first elongated member; and a second elongated member pivotally connected to the first elongated member. Each of the elongated members includes a handle portion selectively extendable from the proximal end of the elongated member; and a tool member selectively extendable from the distal end of the elongated member.

  • Patent number: 6052608
Abstract: An implantable medical electrode supports at least one conductive contact having a rounded protrusion adapted for contacting a treatment site of a patient in use and an edge portion bordering at least a portion of the rounded protrusion. The electrode includes a first flexible insulating layer and a second flexible insulating layer having at least one aperture. In assembly, the conductive contact is positioned between the first and second insulating layers with the rounded protrusion of the contact aligned with, and extending into the aperture. In one embodiment, the rounded protrusion extends through the aperture to terminate at an apex beyond the second insulating layer.
