  • Publication number: 20050238803
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of adhering a getter material to a surface, wherein the getter is used to remove and control contaminant gases in the environment surrounding the active layers in an electronic device. The getter material is applied from a getter composition comprising getter particles, inorganic binders and a liquid medium to create a composition of a consistency that can be deposited on the surface in any pattern and in any thickness desired. The surface on which the getter composition is deposited can be heated separately from the electronic device so as to activate the getter material and cause the particles to adhere to the surface without the need of additional adhesive layers or other materials.

  • Patent number: 6284086
Abstract: A very low stress attachment method for attaching a microelectronic device to a flexible substrate comprises use of a photo initiated anisotropic conductive adhesive, preferably an infrared photo initiated anisotropic paste, which can be applied to the bonding terminals of a microelectronic device. The flex circuit is then aligned with the corresponding pads on the device. The flex circuit is then biased against the microelectronic device and the infrared photo initiated anisotropic adhesive is exposed to infrared light by means of a dual purpose light guide that presses against the back side of the polyimide flex circuit and simultaneously receives and guides light energy from an Nd: YAG laser to the back side of the polyimide flex circuit. Light energy from the laser passes through the polyimide substrate and between the circuit tracks of the flex circuit to excite the photo initiator of the photo initiated ACA material, thereby causing it to cure.

  • Patent number: 5510598
Abstract: A thermally-actuated switch includes a pair of switch contacts openable or closeable in response to a change in the length of a shape memory metal (SMM) rod. The SMM rod is caused to change its length by having its temperature increased by heat produced when electrical power dissipated in a heating element that is coupled in electrical circuit with the switch contacts. To this end, the heating element is thermally coupled to the SMM rod, such as by a common heatsink. Where the switch is to be openable, the heating element is preferably in series circuit with the contacts, and where the contacts are closeable, the heating element is preferably in parallel therewith.
