    Abstract: An apparatus for delivering fluids at a precisely controlled rate which comprises a fluid dispensing component having a fluid reservoir for containing the fluids to be delivered and an electrically operated flow control device operably associated with the fluid dispensing component. The electrically operated flow control device comprises a solenoid valve for precisely controlling the flow of medicinal fluids to the patient. More particularly, the solenoid valve functions to precisely control both the frequency of the flow of medicinal fluid toward the patient and the volume of medicinal fluid flowing toward the patient.
