  • Patent number: 5865010
Abstract: A carton filling machine comprising a compartmentalized clean air system for providing a downward unidirectional flow of clean air into a chamber that substantially encloses one of the machine stations is provided. Preferably, the machine station is a filling station. Even more preferably the clean air system encloses both the fill pipe of the filling station and a top folding portion of a top sealing station of the machine. The top folding portion of the top sealing station ensures that the carton exits the chamber in a closed state whereby the carton is maintained in a very hygienic state after it has been filled in a very hygienic atmosphere. The air flow is advantageously divided into plural streams, one of which is directed about the fill pipe to further ensure sterile filling conditions.

  • Patent number: 5433920
Abstract: An ultraviolet (I/V) sterilization system for food cartons is disclosed. An elongated UV lamp is mounted in a housing. A parabolic cylinder reflector is mounted in the housing with the focus of the reflector coinciding with the axis of the arc in the UV lamp. The shape of the parabolic reflector directs radiation from the lamp into cartons positioned on a conveyor below the lamp. The axis of the arc is parallel to the direction of movement of the cartons on the conveyor. The front surface of the reflector also absorbs heat from the lamp and heat is removed from the reflector by circulating air over the back surface of the reflector.

  • Patent number: 4363178
Abstract: A support assembly for trencher teeth or other tools including a mounting bracket which is retained on a bracket support by only one retaining pin thereby permitting quick and convenient installation on or detachment from a trencher digging chain. The mounting bracket is constructed for holding a pair of reversible trencher teeth made in accordance with the present invention, each tooth including plural cutting edges. The operator mounts a trencher tooth to one side of the mounting bracket until its forward cutting edge becomes dulled or damaged, and then, reverses the tooth to the opposite side of the bracket for further use. One end of the mounting bracket is formed with a downwardly depending hook-like projection which engages and locks against an end of the bracket support. The opposite end of the mounting bracket abuts against an upstanding vertical projection on the bracket support and is held thereto by a single retaining pin passing through the upstanding projection and into the bracket support.

  • Patent number: 4027913
Abstract: An articulated vehicle consisting of pivotally interconnected rear and front sections is disclosed herein. The bodies defining both sections of the articulated vehicle each include a pair of fenders that are formed from sheet metal and are interconnected by bracing members to define spaces therebetween. The rear section has a pivot cover member which encloses the space to define an enclosed compartment while the front section also has a cover extending above the respective fenders to define an enclosed compartment for an engine space.
