  • Patent number: 6281473
Abstract: A laser shock peening system includes an apparatus and method that senses a thickness of laser transparent confinement media flow, such as water. In one embodiment, the apparatus indicates a proper thickness, in another embodiment, the apparatus controls the flow rate of the confinement media using signals from probes of the apparatus. A first probe is used to sense a predetermined minimum thickness and another embodiment further includes a second probe to indicate a predetermined maximum thickness of the confinement media.

  • Patent number: 4114229
Abstract: A downwardly open roller supported housing is provided, on its upper surface, with a handle equipped rearwardly and upwardly inclined casing. Transverse partitions, within the housing, form an air flow passageway open to the bottom of the housing and a liquid receiving chamber for used cleaning fluid. A nozzle, mounted in the housing, is connected by tubing with a source of cleaning fluid supply through a heater and detergent applicator for spraying the surface to be cleaned. A pump, supported by a housing partition, drains the used cleaning fluid chamber to a point of discharge by tubing extending through the casing. A blower, supported by a housing partition, induces air flow through the passageway for removing used cleaning fluid from the surface being cleaned.

  • Patent number: 3939527
Abstract: A surface cleaning apparatus having a molded plastic housing and an upwardly and rearwardly projecting casing terminating at a handle. The lower portion of the housing includes a forward suction nozzle with an opening into a recovery tank and a molded plastic cover hingedly mounted over the recovery tank. The cover includes a downwardly projecting baffle adjacent the suction nozzle opening into the recovery tank. Suction is generated by a blower at the rear of the recovery chamber and a shield positioned in front of the blower prevents liquid flow from the recovery chamber into the blower. The cover includes a raised portion extending out over the top of the shield and downwardly to a juncture with the forward baffle, the raised portion thereby defining a passageway around and over the shield whereby air is free to flow from the recovery chamber over the shield and into the blower.
