  • Patent number: 10057543
Abstract: In accordance with one aspect of the invention, a method of receiving content over a content delivery system is provided. The method includes receiving a user request to initiate a rewind operation on content locally available in a live-off-disk (LOD) buffer. The content is associated with an event received over a content delivery system. If all of the event is not available in the LOD buffer, a message is communicated over the content delivery system to a headend requesting remaining content associated with an unreceived portion of the event. In response to the message, the remaining content is received from the headend over the content delivery system.

  • Patent number: 7920623
Abstract: Simultaneous display of multiple audio/video (AV) programs transmitted over a digital link is described. At a source device, at least one non-composited digital transport stream is generated from the plurality of AV programs. The at least one non-composited digital transport stream is augmented with control information. The control information is operative to invoke simultaneous display of the plurality of AV programs on a display device. The at least one non-composited digital transport stream is then transmitted as augmented over the digital link. At a sink device, at least one non-composited digital transport stream having the plurality of AV programs is received over the digital link. Control information is extracted from the at least one non-composited digital transport stream. The plurality of AV programs are identified within said non-composited digital transport stream in response to the control information. The identified AV programs are then simultaneously displayed on the display device.

  • Publication number: 20080152305
Abstract: A portable media content storage and rendering device is disclosed which organizes, enables portability, and manages purchased media content, or media content from a digital video recorder (“DVR”). In an illustrative example, the DVR is integrated a set-top box (“STB”). The STB also functions as a proxy device to facilitate selecting and receiving the purchased media over a distribution network. The purchased media content and/or DVR media content is copied to the portable media storage and rendering device from the STB as a digital television stream which is facilitated by a user interface application that is hosted by the STB. The copied media content is used in accordance with a digital rights management license from a media content service. The portable media storage and rendering device has an onboard video processor which is arranged to support different external presentation devices such as televisions and monitors using a variety of resolutions and formats.
