  • Patent number: 8210522
Abstract: A method for positioning and feeding media into a media feed path according to one embodiment includes moving a first media sheet from the top of a stack of media sheets in a media storage location in a media process direction from an initial pick position into a media feed path leaving a second media sheet at the top of the stack of media sheets. In the media storage location, the second media sheet is moved opposite the media process direction away from an entrance to the media feed path until a leading edge of the second media sheet reaches a known predetermined position in the media storage location. After the leading edge of the second media sheet reaches the known predetermined position, the second media sheet is moved in the media process direction from the stack of media sheets into the media feed path.

  • Patent number: 5959496
Abstract: A microprocessor (9) has output driver circuitry (20 FIG. 1; 30, 32 FIG. 2) which is selectable by signals on electrical lines (22 FIG. 1; 36 FIG. 2) to obtain different drive levels. In this manner mass produced microprocessors may be employed with output voltage selected to better match load and thereby reduce electrical noise from overshoot and ringing. Typically, each microprocessor when installed in a printer (1) or other apparatus will be selected to only one such status during the life of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5783963
Abstract: An ASIC (5) has four driver circuits (19a-19d), each with different output power. One of those driver circuits is selected from the content of register (13) on the ASIC. The register content being decoded by a decoder (15) on the ASIC to a signal which activates a single one of the drivers. The register is loaded from an external microprocessor during each initialization of a printer (1) in which the ASIC is a component. The ASIC is designed with the range of the powers of the drivers bracketing the estimated needs of the load to be attached to the ASIC. This permits the ASIC to be completed only once, while the most suitable driver for the final load is determined subsequently and selected by the entry of data to activate that driver into the register with each initialization of the printer. The ASIC need not have nonvolatile memory and only a single set of ASIC masks and other design aspects need be completed.
