Abstract: The Device to Assist Paraplegics with Getting Dressed is designed to lift a person that has a spinal cord injury or minimal use of their legs above the seat of a wheel chair, or a toilet seat, allowing easy slipping on or off of the pants. The device may be wall mounted wall adjacent to a seating fixture. The device may be mounted on a “free standing” frame, which may have wheels to make it easy to move around and may easily fold up for storage. To use the device a person will, with their arms out to their sides horizontally, put the armpit rest under their arm pit area. On reaching down towards the pants, the armpit rest will turn from horizontal to a vertical position, lifting them up enough to slip the pants on or off.

The data packet is classified according to a type of service (TOS) indicator and modified with an internal service class (ISC) indicator according to the TOS indicator. The data packet is modified with a watermark (WM) indicator according to the availability of a system resource. The ISC, WM and a drop preference (DP) indicator of the data packet are compared to a committed information rate (CIR). The packet is discarded if the DP exceeds the CIR.

A data packet is received from an incoming data channel and is transferred to a switching engine (SE) through an access processor engine (APE). An incoming type of service (TOS) mask word is generated, and a QOS lookup table is generated. A TOS value is generated by masking a header field of the data packet with the TOS mask. The QOS lookup table is searched for a QOS translation using the TOS value as a key value. An internal service class (ISC) indicator is output according to the QOS translation entry.

A size value of the data packet is added to a data count for the filter type. The filter type is compared to a committed information rate (CIR). The data packet is filtered if the data count exceeds the CIR or a burst rate. A status the data packet may optionally be altered if the data count exceeds the CIR. A priority of the data packet may optionally be reclassified if the data count exceeds the CIR.

A data packet is received via a data channel. An acknowledgement that the data packet was received is sent via the control channel. The destination slot is released via the control channel.
