  • Patent number: 10330497
Abstract: A modified eddy current (MEC) probe includes a probe body having a bore formed therein. A printed circuit board (PCB) assembly includes a circuit board defining a plane, has a plurality of electronic components mounted thereon, and is configured for mounting within the bore of the probe body. A coil board assembly is electrically connected to the PCB assembly, defines a plane, and includes a first coil board layer, a second coil board layer bonded to the first coil board layer, a transmitter coil formed on an outside surface of the first coil board layer, a Faraday shield formed on an outside surface of the second coil board layer, and a sensor coil formed on one of an inside surface of the first coil board layer and the second coil board layer, such that the sensor coil is positioned between the first coil board layer and the second coil board layer. The plane of the coil board assembly is arranged orthogonally to the plane of the circuit board.

  • Patent number: 8126787
Abstract: The present invention is a system and method for preparing a tax return using electronically distributed tax return data. Electronically distributed tax return data (such as W-2 data or 1099 data) that is stored at a third party's computer system for a taxpayer is accessed to prepare the tax return. The location of the electronically distributed tax return data is provided to a tax preparer that accesses the electronic data and prepares the tax return. The taxpayer provides authorization for the tax preparer to access the electronically distributed tax return data stored at the third party system. After the current tax year, the tax preparer checks the availability of the electronically distributed tax return data. When the electronically distributed tax return data is determined to be available, the tax preparer accesses it and prepares the tax return.

  • Patent number: 7082878
Abstract: A missile includes a payload assembly that has a pair of nosecones. The nosecones may be optimized for different environments and/or phases of flight, for example, having different shapes, different shell materials, different types of seals, and/or different separation mechanisms. The first (outer) nosecone may have a more streamlined shape, be made of more thermally-protective material, and may meet less stringent sealing requirements, than the second (inner) nosecone. Separation of the outer nosecone from the payload assembly may cause backward movement of a center of pressure of the payload assembly, bringing the center of pressure of the assembly closer to a center of gravity of the assembly. This may make the payload assembly easier to maneuver, for example, reducing or eliminating the need for intervention by an attitude control system, to maintain the payload assembly on a desired course.

  • Publication number: 20050137836
Abstract: Computer system architecture transformation may be accomplished by a variety of techniques. In certain implementations, a transformation technique includes analyzing a computer system architecture to determine functions of software applications and relationships between components and determining actual use of the components by non-architecture actors. The transformation technique also includes determining how to partition the components into modules that correlate with the actual use of the architecture components and determining collaboration between the modules.
