  • Publication number: 20240075461
Abstract: Provided is a method of producing a catalyst or adsorbent carrier and a catalyst or adsorbent carrier which can enhance a catalyst or adsorbent function, and prevent fall-off of catalyst particles or adsorbent particles. The surface of a metal base material made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy is subjected to an etching process using an etchant containing iron chloride and an oxide to convert the surface to an uneven and rough surface. The uneven and rough surface of the metal base material is subjected to an anodizing process to form a porous coating along the uneven and rough surface. A large number of catalyst or adsorbent particles are thus carried on the surface of the metal base material on which the porous coating is formed along the uneven and rough surface.

  • Patent number: 6091193
Abstract: A mesh grid for a fluorescent display tube capable of effectively preventing a deformed mesh from being in contact with fluorescent substance without disturbing indications on an anode display unit. The mesh grid is mounted over an anode substrate with adhesive. A mesh of the mesh grid is disposed over the anode display unit including a plurality of anode segments. The mesh is formed in a hexagonal pattern. On the mesh, protruding portions directed to the anode display unit are formed. The protruding portions are disposed at positions opposing the anode display unit but not opposing each of the anode segments. The protruding portions are formed by pressing the mesh toward the anode display unit with each intersection of fine wires in a hexagonal pattern.

  • Patent number: 5378247
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a separator for forming a current collector and edge plate by placing a die and an outer frame for surrounding the die on a press head, placing a thin material plate and a soft plate, and pressing the thin material plate through the soft plate. When the current collector and the edge plate are made press working, cut working and joint working such as welding, can be omitted. Accordingly, the residual stress which is intrinsic to such workings is prevented. Thus, no stress is released by the temperature rise involved in the fuel cell operation and the members of the fuel cell do not become distorted. Additionally, the method provides high productivity.

  • Patent number: 5072689
Abstract: A continuous hot-dip plating apparatus has a roll assembly having superior resistance to erosion caused by the hot melt plating metal, as well as high resistance to wear of the shaft and bearings, which are immersed in the hot melt of the plating metal. A ceramic material is mounted on the sliding portions of the metallic roll shaft to make sliding contact with the metallic bearings and/or on the sliding surfaces of the metallic bearings which contact the metallic roll shaft. A clearance is left between the shafts and bearings to hold molten metal thereinbetween for lubrication.

  • Patent number: 4994157
Abstract: A method of descaling stainless steel which provides a smooth and glossy surface, comprises the steps of (a) anode-electrolyzing stainless steel having scales thereon in an aqueous neutral salt solution, (b) anode-electrolyzing or immersing the stainless steel in an aqueous alkaline solution. Steps (a) and (b) are performed in the order of either (a), (b), (a). The method further comprises the step of cathode-electrolyzing the stainless steel treated in the previous two steps in an aqueous nitric acid solution or immersing it in an aqueous solution of a mixture containing nitric acid and fluoric acid.

  • Patent number: 4958589
Abstract: A continuous melt-plating apparatus has a guide roller provided above the sink roller. The guide roller is capable of curving into a configuration arbitrarily varied in the widthwise direction of the strip, in such a manner that the waving and curving of the steel strip, which is very variable depending on the thickness, the width and the material of the steel strip, changes of the sink roller, the plating speed, and the thickness of the plating, can be coped with precisely in accordance therewith. A detector for detecting the degree of flatness of the steel strip in the widthwise direction is provided downstream of the gas wiping nozzle, and the curving of the guide roller is controlled through a feedback control for adjusting the amount of variation of the guide roller's pushing, so that the flatness can be precisely maintained right at the portion corresponding to the gas wiping nozzles.

  • Patent number: 4613093
Abstract: An apparatus for looping belt-like materials, including first and second looping units for winding a moving belt-like material helically into first and second coils, with a portion of the belt-like material forming the first coil being drawn out into the second coil. A plurality of support rollers annularly arranged along each of the portions of the wound belt-like material forming the first and second coils, and frames are provided with the support rollers, along with a drive for applying a rotary force to the frames. The support rollers are displaceable in a radial direction of an imaginary circle along which the support rollers are arranged in accordance with variations in diameters of the coils so as to bring the support rollers into contact with the portions of the belt-like material which constitute the coils.

  • Patent number: 4326095
Abstract: A casing for a semiconductor memory chip comprises a barrier intercepting a limited space that envelopes lines of vision between an exposed surface of the chip and an inside end surface of a sealing layer for hermetically sealing a cap and a base member of the casing together and at least towards which alpha particles are emitted from the sealing layer inside surface. The barrier may be made integral with a base member peripheral region having a peripheral surface to be sealed to the cap member by the sealing layer, with that mounting surface of the base member on which the chip is attached, recessed relative to the peripheral surface. The peripheral surface may be either parallel to the mounting surface or canted so that the limited space may be directed inwardly away from the mounting surface. Alternatively, the barrier may comprise a pedestal member having a surface that is an outward extension of the mounting surface, with the mounting surface protruded relative to the peripheral surface.
