  • Patent number: 8845779
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to provide a process for producing molten iron through the efficient reduction of iron oxide having various chemical compositions and various shapes, or through the efficient melting of scrap iron or reduced iron having various shapes and various chemical compositions, the process being used in cases where the amount of iron necessary per furnace is not so large as in blast furnace processes. Specifically, the present invention provides a process for producing molten iron comprising the steps of: supplying carbon-containing molten iron to a holding container, heating the molten iron using heat of a combustion reaction of a gas mixture containing a fuel gas and a combustion-supporting gas, thereby storing the heat therein, and adding a carbon source and an iron-containing material that contains iron oxide and/or scrap iron to the heated and heat-stored molten iron, thereby converting the iron-containing material to molten iron.

  • Patent number: 8771400
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing molten iron, the method being capable of minimizing the generation of converter dust and increasing the thermal degree of freedom in the converter process. In addition, the present invention provides a method for improving a converter operation method in the production of steels. The present invention relates to a method for producing molten iron including the steps of: 1) supplying carbon-containing molten pig iron to a converter, 2) continuously supplying iron oxide into the converter, and 3) blowing a mixed gas comprising a fuel gas and a combustion-supporting gas at a speed equal to or faster than the speed of sound to the molten pig iron to cause a combustion reaction, thereby heating the molten pig iron by heat of the combustion reaction.

  • Patent number: 6417252
Abstract: A novel aqueous resin composition for use as a sealer is provided, including an aqueous resin as a major component, and a viscosity modifier adjusting the viscosity of the aqueous resin composition to a value ranging from 5,000 to 100,000 mPa·s, the aqueous resin being an aqueous emulsion polyolefin resin which comprises a polyolefin not containing chlorine as a constituent element while exhibiting a viscosity of 1,000 mPa·s or higher in a water-dispersed state having a solid resin content of 20% to 40% by weight.

  • Patent number: 5413623
Abstract: Molten steel is efficiently vacuum treated in a vacuum treatment vessel provided with a top blow lance capable of injecting oxygen and a gaseous fuel at desired flow rates, respectively, into the molten steel. The blow lance is provided on the top of the vacuum treatment vessel and is supported so as to be freely vertically movable. By spacing the lower end of the top blow lance not more than 2 m from the surface of the molten steel bath and injecting only oxygen onto the molten steel, and spacing the lower end of the top blow lance 1.0 m or more from the surface of the molten steel bath and injecting both oxygen and a gaseous fuel gas onto the molten steel, the temperature of the molten steel is prevented from decreasing during the vacuum treatment and the molten steel is so prevented from depositing on the inside wall of the vacuum treatment vessel.
