    Abstract: Disclosed is an internal combustion engine comprising a main combustion chamber and an auxiliary combustion chamber which are interconnected with each other via a first connecting passage. A second connecting passage communicating the first connecting passage with the main combustion chamber is further provided. The spark plug is disposed in the second connecting passage. The combustible mixture in the main combustion chamber passes through the second connecting passage due to the pressure difference between the static pressure at a position where the second connecting passage opens into the first connecting passage and the static pressure at a position where the second connecting passage opens into the main combustion chamber.
