  • Patent number: 5389455
Abstract: A medium includes a readout layer, a memory layer, an adjusting layer for an exchange coupling force .sigma..sub.W, and a writing layer, and can perform an over-write operation upon radiation of a modulated laser beam. The readout layer essentially consists of GdFeCo, the memory layer essentially consists of TbFeCo, the adjusting layer essentially consists of GdFeCo, and the writing layer essentially consists of DyFeCo. The C/N ratio of the medium exceeds 53 dB. The C/N ratio is a value obtained when a plurality of mark.sup.H having a period of 1.6 .mu.m are written, and are read out so that medium noise is maximized as compared to other noise components.

  • Patent number: 5245374
Abstract: A camera having a built-in strobe is provided in which a light emitter is moved between a retracted position and a light emitting position, and includes at least one posture control pin that projects outward from at least one side of the light emitter. A support has at least one cam groove, in which the posture control pin is fitted, to control the posture of the light emitter. An elastic biasing member acts on a projecting end of the posture control pin to bias the light emitter into the light emitting position.

  • Patent number: 5233378
Abstract: A camera has a pop-up strobe incorporated therein, including a light emitting unit which is movable between a retracted position, in which it is retracted into a camera body, and a pop-up position, in which the light emitting unit projects from the camera body. A manual actuating switch for moving the light emitting unit from the retracted position to the pop-up position, and a drive mechanism for driving the light emitting unit into the pop-up position in accordance with the operation of the manual actuating switch are provided, as is a mode changing switch for changing light emission modes of the light emitting unit. The manual actuating switch includes at least a part of the mode changing switch when the light emitting unit is in the pop-up position.

  • Patent number: 5225882
Abstract: A moving body measuring apparatus which can measure a distance and/or an azimuth angle to a moving body using a laser beam in a minimized measuring cycle with a simplified scanning mechanism under a minimized influence of a disturbance of the background light or the sunlight. Laser light is first shaped into a fan beam by expanding the same in a first direction by a fan beam shaping optical system. The fan beam is deflected in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction to scan by a uniaxial light scanning mechanism and is irradiated upon a target. Reflected light of the fan beam is deflected by the uniaxial light scanning mechanism and introduced into an optical detector by way of a light receiving optical system.

  • Patent number: 5191564
Abstract: There is disclosed an over-write capable magnetooptical recording medium, which includes a substrate having spirally or concentrically formed land portions, and grooves formed between the adjacent land portions on its surface, and at least two layers including a memory layer having perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, and a writing layer exchange-coupled to the memory layer, and having perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, the stacking order of these layers not being specifically limited, characterized in that the depth of each of the grooves is set to be 800 .ANG. or less. The groove depth is preferably 300 .ANG. or more for tracking. Within this groove depth range, a C/N ratio can be higher than a case wherein a groove has a depth larger than 800 .ANG..

  • Patent number: 5132960
Abstract: An information recording medium of an air-sandwich sealed type is disclosed, which comprises a pair of disk-shaped substrate to form an inner space therebetween; an inner circumferential spacer and an outer circumferential spacer interposed between the pair of disk-shaped substrates; and a recording layer formed on the inner surface of at least one of the disk-shaped substrates, with an adhesive agent being applied to the surface of at least the inner circumferential spacer or the outer circumferential spacer in the form of a plurality of concentric adhesive layers, each of the concentric adhesive layers having at least one cut-away portion to which the adhesive agent is not applied to form a vent and an air passage between the surface of the inner circumferential space or the outer circumferential spacer and any of the substrates, the vent and the air passage capable of allowing the air to pass from the inner inner space formed by the disk-shaped substrates to the outside and vice versa, and the cut-away por

  • Patent number: 4627063
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a laser oscillator in which a laser element is pumped by a discharge tube. The discharge tube is excited by a power supply unit having a plurality of energy storage circuits. An exciting current supply controls the energy storage circuits and connects them to the discharge tube in a predetermined sequence at predetermined time intervals such that the level of a trailing discharge current produced in the discharge tube by one of the energy storage units is raised above a predetermined level before the level of a leading discharge current produced by a preceding one of the energy storage units is lowered below the predetermined level.
