Patent number: 7785446Abstract: To smooth the surface of a flow sheet that is used in a paper machine and make the flow sheet easy to handle, reinforced fibers are disposed in a mold 5. The entire mold 5 is covered with enclosing members 10, 11 so that an enclosed space 12 is formed inside the enclosing members 10, 11. While air in the enclosed space 12 is being suctioned through one end of the enclosed space 12, matrix resin is supplied to the reinforced fibers through the other end of the enclosed space 12 to impregnate the reinforced fibers with the matrix resin, and the matrix resin is hardened, whereby there is obtained a flow sheet whose surface smoothness is 0.25 ?m or less in terms of arithmetical mean roughness.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2004Date of Patent: August 31, 2010Assignee: Toray Industries, Inc.Inventors: Tetsuo Makino, Akimine Izawa, Keiichi Fujiki, Toshihiro Ito, Hiroshi Odani

Patent number: 7094191Abstract: A press roll is employed in the press section, calender section, etc., of a papermaking machine. The press roll includes a first tapered surface (11a) and a first clamping surface (12a). The first tapered surface (11a) is formed in the outer peripheral surface of the supporting head (11) and diminishes in outside diameter toward its axially outer end. The first clamping surface (12a) is formed in the inner peripheral surface of the clamping member (12) and coincides with the first tapered surface (11a). With the first tapered surface (11a) and the first clamping surface (12a), a blanket (10) is clamped on the first tapered surface (11a) in a perpendicular direction. In this way, the blanket (10) can be exchanged easily and uniformly in a short time.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2002Date of Patent: August 22, 2006Assignee: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Haruyoshi Fujiwara, Tetsuo Makino, Hidemasa Iijima

Patent number: 5997693Abstract: A stock liquor pressure pulsation absorbing apparatus of an active type is able to absorb pressure pulsations in an ordinarily demanded frequency range of 0.01 to 100 Hz. A by-pass pipe (2) extracts a portion of a stock liquor from a master pipe (1) for supplying the stock liquor to a paper machine headbox. A control pump (7) returns a portion of the stock liquor so extracted into the by-pass pipe. A detector (3) detects a stock liquor pulsation pressure at a branch point, or on an upstream side thereof, of the by-pass pipe and master pipe for controlling the control pump. The pressure pulsation, including the low frequency range, of the stock liquor is thereby absorbed accurately and precisely, variations in the basis weight are made small and a stable supply of final products with a high quality can be attained.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1998Date of Patent: December 7, 1999Assignee: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Hideki Hirooka, Toshimi Tajima, Tetsuo Makino, Mamoru Tanaka

Patent number: 5470439Abstract: A flow rate regulating apparatus of a paper-making machine headbox is compact, can regulate the flow directions of jets of the wet paper stock during operation, and prevents stagnation. Each of tubes at ends of a tube bank disposed upstream of a slice chamber of the headbox for receiving stock from a tapered header includes a first tubular portion consisting of an inlet section having a small inner diameter, a take-out section protruding to the outside of the tube bank, and an outlet section contiguous to the take-out section, and a second tubular portion having a large inner diameter. The inner diameter of each take-out section is larger than the inner diameter of tubes located in the central portion of the tube bank. The take-out sections are provided with a flow rate regulating valve and a flow meter. Alternatively, the end tubes each have a first tubular portion that is straight, and a second tubular portion having a larger inner diameter than and disposed coaxially with the first tubular portion.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1993Date of Patent: November 28, 1995Assignee: Mitsubishi Jukogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Tetsuo Makino, Keiichi Fujiki, Toshimi Tajima

Patent number: 5147509Abstract: A headbox apparatus is disclosed for ejecting stock onto a forming wire of a papermaking machine. The apparatus includes a header for the flow therethrough of the stock. The header finds an inlet and an outlet, the outlet having an upstream and a downstream end. The header is tapered in a cross-machine direction from the upstream end towards the downstream end such that the flow of stock through the outlet remains substantially constant from the upstream to the downstream end. A distributor is disposed immediately downstream relative to the outlet and in fluid communication therewith. The distributor includes a plurality of distributor tubes which are disposed parallel relative to each other. Each of the tubes has an upstream extremity such that the stock flows from the outlet through each of the upstream extremities. Each of the extremities defines an upstream edge and a downstream edge such that for each tube, the upstream edge is nearer than the downstream edge to the upstream end of the outlet.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 1990Date of Patent: September 15, 1992Assignee: Beloit CorporationInventors: Mutsuo Kuragasaki, Yasuhiro Sueoka, Akira Equchi, Tetsuo Makino

Patent number: 4604164Abstract: A headbox for a paper machine comprising a top plate and a bottom plate defining a chamber therebetween and a plurality of flow restraining elements disposed one above another in the chamber to define a plurality of paths spaced one above another therein. The top and bottom plates are connected to one end to a perforated plate defining an inlet for the chamber and approach each other as they approach an outlet for the chamber. Each element is removably connected at one end to the perforated plate, and the paths extend from the inlet to the outlet. Each element has a mildly corrugated upper surface and a mildly corrugated lower surface which approach each other until they terminate in a free end remote from the perforated plate. Those surfaces are substantially symmetrical to each other with respect to a center line of said element. Each element has a free end portion formed from an easily deformable material, such as rubber or plastics. The surfaces of each element define an angle of 1.degree. to 15.degree.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1985Date of Patent: August 5, 1986Assignee: Mitsubishi Jukogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Haruyoshi Fujiwara, Tetsuo Makino
