  • Patent number: 5056928
Abstract: In a subject fluid, there is placed an apparatus for measuring a change in state of the fluid, said apparatus having a tubular body which, in turn, contains therein at least one heating sensor employing so-called hot wire method. A quantity of the fluid is introduced into the tubular body and a temperature of the heating sensor is measured by the heating sensor itself as the quantity of the fluid having been introduced into the tubular body is maintained in a state of laminar flow or a static state. The laminar flow is generated by fluid impeller means such as impeller vane, screw-type vane or propeller vane assembly or uniaxial eccentric pump. The static state is maintained y providing gateway means for passage of the fluid into or out from the tubular body and closing such gateway means. A temperature of the fluid having been introduced into the tubular body and maintained in said laminar or static state is measured and discharged out from the tubular body upon completion of said temperature measurements.

  • Patent number: 4916886
Abstract: A cutting line head assembly in a rotary cutter having an engine unit, and a power head having drive shaft rotatively driven by the engine unit for rotating the assembly. A housing of the assembly is connectible to the engine unit and rotatable in a cutting plane. A reel is engageable with the housing, and has a reel portion, and a peripheral wall portion separately connected to the reel portion and having at least one aperture. At least one flexible cutting line is wound on the reel portion and has a free end portion extending outwardly of the housing through the at least one aperture. A cover covers the reel in a fashion holding the reel between the housing and the cover. A coupling device couples the cover to the housing in a fashion clamping the reel securely to the housing. Urging protuberances are provided on the covering for urging the reel portion to forcibly separate the reel portion from the peripheral wall portion when the covering is coupled to the housing.

  • Patent number: 4867226
Abstract: A method of oscillating a continuous caster mold at high frequencies comprises disposing a plurality of oscillators having substantially the same oscillating characteristic at appropriate intervals along or in the vicinity of a line where liquid metal contacts an inner lining of a mold, connecting the tip of each oscillator to the inner lining so that the axis of the oscillator extends at right angles to the surface of the inner lining, and supplying power from an oscillation generator to each oscillator so that the oscillation frequencies of any two adjoining oscillators are differentiated within the limit of 2 KHz. Thus, any two adjoining oscillators oscillate the inner lining at right angles to the surface thereof at mutually differentiated frequencies.

  • Patent number: 4701704
Abstract: A touch signal probe for electrically detecting the contact of a touch pin with a work to be measured in all three-axes directions. The apparatus can be attached to a three-dimensional coordinate measuring system to automatically detect electrical touch signals indicative of the contact with the work. The internal structure of the probe case is constructed such that a three dimensionally movable support can be attached thereto to provide a touch pin base which is movably supported on seats fixed on the probe case which carries the touch pin by means of a Z-axis movable support mechanism. The Z-axis support mechanism consists of a pair of diaphragms fixed on the upper and lower ends of the touch pin base at their peripheries respectively and a support shaft rigidly connected with the central portions of the diaphragms and holding the touch pin at its lower end.

  • Patent number: 4611403
Abstract: A surface tracer having a probe to trace the surface profile of a work continuously and read out the shapes of the work to three-dimensional coordinate electrical signals. The probe is rigidly connected with an X-axis slider which is supported on a base through Y- and Z-axis sliders so as to be slidable perpendicular to each other such that the probe can be slided on the surface of the work. The Z-axis slider is suspended from the base by a suspending spring to support the other X- and Y-axis sliders. Between the base and the X-axis slider a return spring for providing returning force to the probe to its original position is adopted. Pressurized air is supplied to the sliding face of each of the sliders to form an air bearing thereon.

  • Patent number: 4601463
Abstract: A cloth gripping device including a pressing member having a portion for pressing a cloth to grip the same and a claw member for cooperating with the pressing member to grip the cloth therebetween. A pressing face is formed on the bottom of the pressing member for pressing the cloth. A retracted face is located at a position retracted by a distance corresponding to the thickness of a single cloth from the pressing face relative to the cloth. A substantially vertical gripping wall is provided by a step between the pressing face and the retracted face. A gripping groove is formed which is sufficiently wide but not too wide to receive a bent portion of the cloth therein when only one cloth is picked up adjacent a boundary between the pressing face and the retracted face. The retracted face includes a guide groove formed therein for guiding the claw member toward the gripping groove.
