  • Patent number: 6844735
Abstract: An inspection object constructed of an ignition plug and an ignition coil is inserted in an inspection housing that does not have a ground electrode. A voltage generated in the ignition coil is measured while the inspection object is housed in the inspection housing. Electrical discharge does not occur because the ground electrode is not provided. Therefore, the voltage generated in the ignition coil is properly measured for quality inspection of the ignition coil.

  • Publication number: 20040114193
Abstract: In the full-length image capture mode, a background of a captured image includes not only a background curtain but also the periphery. The image to be edited from multiple captured images is selected, and the brightness of the image is adjusted. After that, a range to be edited of the background is calculated from the background of the image through Chromakey processing. Then, the color corresponding to the degree of the brightness of the adjusted image is obtained from the stored colors of the background curtain. The calculated editing range of the background is then converted with the obtained color. As a result, the boundary of the background curtain and the periphery becomes inconspicuous, and the image having a good-looking background can be provided easily.

  • Publication number: 20040081440
Abstract: A “theme” conceptually representing a pose and/or expression of an object is displayed on a image capture monitor as text information. A user checks the “theme” displayed before image capture starts and creates his/her pose and/or expression associated with the theme. The image capture is performed in response to a user instruction to start image capture, and a photograph with a composition associated with the “theme” iscaptured. In graffiti processing on an image, which is started at the end of the image capture processing, text corresponding to the “theme” having been given for capturing the image can be input onto the captured image. The invention can be applied to a photo sticker vending machine.

  • Publication number: 20040051897
Abstract: An authentic scanner driver 11 provided with a function of preventing unauthorized use is installed in a personal computer 10. Data is sent and received with a color scanner 20 via the driver. The color scanner 20 is provided with a driver recognition portion 22 for making a decision as to whether the connection target is an authentic driver. Only where the driver is judged to be an authentic driver, normal image processing (acceptance and transfer of data) is performed. Where the driver is not an authentic driver, the normal image processing is stopped. Thus, the unauthorized use preventing function incorporated in the driver is operated with certainty. Monitoring is done to detect whether fraudulent processing such as forgery is performed. Consequently, unauthorized use can be prevented.

  • Publication number: 20040040535
Abstract: During a multiple discharges operation, a micro computer changes a discharge period of each discharge in accordance with a pressure transition in a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. Thus, energy amount consumed at each discharge of multiple discharges operation is suppressed toward the minimum requirement, and consumption of energy accumulated in the ignition device is appropriately controlled. As a result, discharge energy is efficiently consumed at the multiple discharges, thereby compacting the ignition device. Further, the number of multiple discharges is not restricted.

  • Patent number: 6698411
Abstract: In an ignition device for use in an internal combustion engine in which a spark plug and an ignition coil are integrated with each other and mounted in a cylinder head, a case is made of an electrical conductive material and one end portion of a secondary winding of the ignition coil is electrically connected to a center electrode of the spark plug while the other end portion of the secondary winding and an earth electrode of the spark plug are electrically connected to the case. Thus, the low-voltage side of the secondary winding and the earth electrode are electrically connected to each other through the case. This eliminates the need for a connector terminal and a wire harness for the electrical connection of the low-voltage side of the secondary winding to the internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 6694958
Abstract: In an ignition device for an internal combustion engine, comprising a spark plug made to carry out an electric discharge between an center electrode and an earth electrode and an ignition coil having a primary winding and a secondary winding for supplying a high voltage to the spark plug, notch portions are made in a ceramic spool on which one of the primary and secondary windings is wound and projecting portion are made in an insulating-resin-made holding member into which connector terminals are incorporated, with the projecting portions being engaged with the notch portions. The engagement of the projecting portions and the notch portions prevents the connector terminals from moving with respect to the ceramic spool in circumferential directions of the ceramic spool during terminal connection work.

  • Patent number: 6694050
Abstract: To reliably and simply prevent the output of specified image data, a unit to detect a pattern is installed in one of the devices in a system consisting of an image scanner 1, control device 2 (a personal computer) and printer 3 which are connected consecutively. This pattern detection unit contains a unit which detects a specified pattern from the mass of image data representing a document. Once this pattern has been found, either the subsequent image data are altered before being output or output of the image data is interrupted. When the system starts up, the control unit for each device checks whether that device, or one of the other devices in the system, has a pattern detection unit as described above. If it determines that no device has such a unit, it halts operation.

  • Patent number: 6675785
Abstract: An insulator includes a coil side cylindrical portion extending from a plug side cylinder portion in a direction departing from a combustion chamber. One end of the coil side cylindrical portion protrudes in the direction departing from the combustion chamber with respect to a primary winding and a secondary winding. A pressure sensing element is disposed next to the one end of the coil side cylindrical portion. The signal lines of the pressure sensing element are taken out of a casing without passing aside an ignition coil. Thus, the diameter of the casing does not increase. The output signal of the pressure sensing element is not adversely influenced by discharge noises generated from the ignition coil.
