  • Patent number: 9032728
Abstract: A supercharger lubricating structure for an internal combustion engine is provided that can supply oil to a supercharger through a short oil passage without use of external piping and downsize a lubricating oil pump. A supercharger lubricating structure for an internal combustion engine can be characterized by the following: A rotating shaft can be connected to a crankshaft via a joint. A connection pipe can be insertably passed through the crankshaft and the rotating shaft to allow an intra-crankshaft oil-feed passage and an intra-rotating-shaft oil-feed passage to communicate with each other. An eccentric shaft portion can be provided on the rotating shaft. A supercharger composed of an orbiting movable scroll and front and rear fixed scrolls can be provided on the eccentric shaft portion via needle bearings. The front and rear fixed scrolls can be provided with ball bearings and the needle bearing supporting the rotating shaft.

  • Patent number: 8997713
Abstract: A vehicular air intake is configured to produce a turbulent intake air flow in a cylinder of an engine. The air flow may be provided as a vortex. A throttle valve, for controlling an amount of intake air provided to the engine, has a pivot shaft with an axis which is offset from a center axis of an air intake passage in which the throttle valve is installed, and a throttle plate affixed to the pivot shaft. The pivot axis is offset and spaced away from the central axis of the throttle body such that a first portion of a throttle plate disposed on a first side of the pivot shaft, is larger than a second portion of the throttle plate disposed on a second side of the pivot shaft. This arrangement provides the non-uniform turbulent air flow into the engine.

  • Patent number: 6945213
Abstract: A cylinder block of a multicylinder engine, having a cylinder main body in which multiple cylinder bores are provided in parallel in an axial direction of a crankshaft, and a crankcase having plural journal walls. The crankcase is integrally provided with the cylinder main body, in which a communication hole extending in parallel to the axial line of the crankshaft is provided in the cylinder main body and the crankcase while at least a part of which is opened in the inner peripheral surface of the cylinder bore. This permits the cylinder block to be downsized, increases freedom of positional setting of the communication hole, and reduces ventilation resistance of air flow through the communication hole. A cut-processed member is expanded further outward from a piston slide surface and is formed along a radial direction of cylinder bores, in inner surfaces of the cylinder bores in at least portions closer to a piston at an open edge of a communication hole.

  • Patent number: 6739291
Abstract: A piston cooling structure for a multicylinder engine having oil jets for ejecting oil toward pistons. The oil jets are mounted in each of a plurality of journal walls except one journal wall. The piston cooling structure is able to supply oil to a cylinder head in a position closer to a central region along the axis of the crankshaft while avoiding a complex oil passage shape. An oil passage for guiding oil to a cylinder head is defined in the one of the journal walls without an oil jet, and this one journal wall is disposed between a pair of adjacent cylinder bores. Oil jets are mounted in each of the other journal walls. A crankshaft of the engine is rotatably supported by the journal walls.

  • Patent number: 6655134
Abstract: An exhaust control valve has a valve housing and a valve body rotatably contained within the valve housing. The valve body cooperates with the valve housing for controlling the flow of exhaust gas. A transmission member rotationally drives a valve shaft of the valve body. The valve body is formed in a cylindrical shape and coaxially with an axis line of the valve shaft. The valve body and the valve shaft are made from a one-piece body by casting. This arrangement provides an exhaust control valve for an engine having a valve body that provides excellent sealing properties, demonstrates high response to driving torque and is easy to manufacture through casting.

  • Patent number: 6609367
Abstract: In an exhaust control valve having a valve housing and a valve body rotatably contained in the valve housing, a transmission member is fitted to an outer end of the valve shaft and protrudes from the outside of the valve housing. A bearing bushing for rotatably bearing an external circumferential surface of the valve shaft by its internal circumferential surface and rotatably bearing an end face of the valve body by its end face is mounted in the valve housing. The valve body is urged by load from a thrust spring for achieving a pressure contact seal condition between the opposed end faces of the bearing bush and the valve body.
