Abstract: A method of managing, or organizing, media objects generated by a plurality of portable electronic devices by defining a project and associating media objects created or stored on the plurality of devices to the project. As media objects are created, the object's metadata can be examined to determine if the media objects satisfy the project criteria, and a project tag can be associated with the media object. A media project can be created for a single type of media object, e.g. photographs, or can encompass multiple media object types, such as digital photographs, video clips, and multimedia objects, in a single media project.

Abstract: A method of selecting files and a portable electronic device configured to perform the method are provided. In accordance with one embodiment, there is provided a method of selecting one or more files on a portable electronic device, comprising: displaying a file selection user interface screen on a display of the portable electronic device, the file selection user interface screen comprising a slider comprising a reference bar and an indicator moveable within the reference bar; selecting one or more files in accordance with a position of the indicator; and attaching the selected files to an electronic message.

Abstract: A method and computing device for providing reminders associated with calendar event data stored in a memory device of the computing device is provided. The calendar event data comprises a start time and an end time associated with a calendar event. A list of items is received. The current time is compared to the end time via a clock device associated with the computing device. If the current time substantially matches the end time, a display device in communication with the computing device is controlled to provide a representation of the list of items associated with the calendar event data.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and system for producing pinned bookmarks is provided. Hardware components of a computing device are enabled to process a browser application for retrieving browser data from a remote computing device and control a display device to display at least a first representation of the browser data. Positional data indicative of a selection of a portion of the first representation of the browser data displayed at the display device is received. The positional data is stored in the memory device in association with at least one identifier of the browser data and at least a subset of the portion.

Abstract: The invention provides a system and method for controlling operation of a communication device. The communication device comprises: a casing for housing a display and a keyboard; and a microprocessor controlling aspects of the keyboard and display. The invention provides a power application operating on the microprocessor. The application monitors activation cycles of the device, stores activation data related to the activation cycles and identifies a new activation cycle for the device utilizing an activation pattern derived from the activation data.

Abstract: This disclosure provides a technique for allowing the sender of an electronic message to create a discreet comment electronic message to at least one discreet recipient. The discreet recipient may be a blind copy recipient. The discreet message consists of a discreet comment section specifically address to one or more designated recipients. To create a discreet comment message, a sender would select a discreet recipient. A discreet comment is then inserted. An association is made to link the discreet recipient with a designated discreet comment. The discreet comment is appended to the electronic message upon sending.

Abstract: A method for automatically saving data in a wireless device is provided. The wireless device has a sensor connected to a processor and a memory connected to the processor. The sensor provides an open signal to the processor indicating an open event when the wireless device is opened and providing a close signal to the processor indicating a close event when the wireless device is closed. The method includes detecting occurrence of the close event while data is being entered in an application; saving the data in the memory; creating and saving a notification in the memory that the data is saved; linking the notification to the saved data; and displaying the saved notification on a primary display screen of the wireless device.
