  • Patent number: 8964662
Abstract: A method and system for managing a body area network using a coordinator device. The method includes acquiring a medical implant communication service (MICS) channel by an MICS transceiver in the coordinator device. The method also includes sending a signal, indicative of a wake-up process, in a non-MICS channel to an implant device and a command signal, indicative of joining a piconet, by the MICS transceiver to an implant device. Further, the method also includes receiving an acknowledgement signal by the MICS transceiver of the coordinator device based on the sending of the command signal to the implant device. The acknowledgement signal comprises a security control field. Furthermore, the method includes initiating security procedures based on the security control field. Further, the method also includes exchanging data between the coordinator device and the implant device based on the initiating and disassociating the implant device by sending a command message.

  • Publication number: 20150043493
Abstract: For a system providing coexistence between a WPAN coordinator and WLAN Access Point (AP), the WPAN coordinator requests WLAN AP for WPAN operation in a selected WLAN channel. The WLAN AP responds with the allocated time limit for which the WPAN operation can be performed. After expiration of the allocated time limit, the WPAN coordinator relinquishes the channel to the WLAN AP. A method addresses the operation of the WPAN system in 2.4 GHz ISM band when a non-overlapping WPAN channel selection is infeasible.

  • Publication number: 20140213182
Abstract: A method and a system for communicating personal health data in a Near Field Communication (NFC) environment are provided. An NFC manager sets control information in an NFC Data Exchange Format (NDEF) for providing synchronized communication of personal health data between the NFC manager and an NFC agent. The control information may include a direction flag, a state flag, sequence identifier field, and request/response flag. The NFC manager writes the NDEF format including the control information and payload data into an NFC tag associated with the NFC agent. Subsequently, the NFC manager reads the NDEF record stored in the NFC tag and determines whether the NDEF record is written into the NFC tag by the NFC agent based on the control information in the read NDEF format. Accordingly, the NFC manager repeats the above mentioned steps if the NDEF record includes payload data of the NFC agent.

  • Patent number: 8397289
Abstract: The present invention proposes a method for protecting and monitoring removable entities in an embedded system. In accordance with the present invention, prior to insertion of a removable entity in the embedded system, a user registers details of the removable entity in the device host. The details may be entered after entering a password or a PIN. A registration identification is calculated based on an algorithm in the device host and is then stored in the host. After the removable entity is inserted, it is registered in an unalterable area (e.g. flash memory) of the device host. Information such as the category of the removable entity, a device number, etc. may be exchanged between the device host and the removable entity. The device host then computes a registration identification based on a Removable Entity Registration Algorithm. The identifications are then compared, and the device host displays the details of the removable entity to the user.
