  • Patent number: 4960378
Abstract: The gas burner comprises a mixer, a conical transition member adjacent thereto on which a cylindrical burner shell with openings and whose top is closed by a burner lid is mounted. Clamped between the burner lid and the transition member is a throttling cylinder which is filled by the super-stoichiometric gas mixture at super-atmospheric pressure. In order to avoid burner pulsations the cylinder has throttling openings whose total area is 2 to 10% of the total area of the openings. The throttling openings are in a plurality of circular rows above one another in such a manner that they are on a respective vertical line. Vertical, imperforate sections of the burner shell are opposed to the lines so that the mixture jets from the throttling openings do not impinge directly on the openings. The cylinder is provided at a coaxial spacing of 5 mm from the burner shell.

  • Patent number: 4699122
Abstract: A condensing storage water heater system comprises an inverted burner at the upper end of a water tank or cylinder connected to a vertical flueway passing through the center of the vessel. A finned heat exchanger is arranged coaxially in the flueway and the primary circuit water flowing through the heat exchanger and the products of combustion pass through the heat exchanger system in countercurrent flow. The burner and/or primary circuit flow are controlled using at least one temperature measuring device located in the storage tank so that condensation will be achieved by the heat exchanger arranged in the flueway.

  • Patent number: 4557220
Abstract: There is described here a gas water heater consisting of a blower (1), a premixing device (2), a gas burner (3), a heat exchanger (4), and a waste gas heat exchanger (5). Gas burner (3) works as super-stoichiometrically premixing burner and has a burner plate (9) which is cooled on the reverse side and which has a plurality of mixture passage openings (10). Heat exchanger (4) extends through two chambers (6, 7) which are located next to each other and through which waste gas flows in opposite directions. Condensation heat exchanger (5) works in the counter-current and consists of star-shaped section pieces through which heating water flows centrally and which are arranged vertically. Waste gas heat exchanger (5) and premixing device (2) run parallel to each other.

  • Patent number: 4501127
Abstract: The invention concerns a heating system incorporating an absorption-type heat pump where the generator is heated by an aerated gas burner combusting a fuel-lean mixture whose efficiency is very high both at full and at part load and whose flue gas has a very low nitrogen monoxide and nitrogen dioxide content. The mixture of fuel gas and combustion air flows from at least one mixer tube 2 into a mixer 3 and is fired on the burner plate 4 cooled by a rich solution which is arranged at a distance of less than 50 mm from the generator 17.When the generator is of the vertical type, a burner is preferably installed where the burner plate surrounds the generator concentrically at such a distance from the bottom of the generator that only the central section of the generator is directly heated.Preferably two heat exchangers are located in the flue duct downstream of the generator to recover the waste heat, including the heat of condensation.

  • Patent number: 4457704
Abstract: The method and apparatus sucks the entire combustion air volume in laterally with respect to the direction of flow of the air current with the help of the impulse of a fuel gas jet out of the air current into a mixing pipe and the formation of a differential pressure between the mixing pipe input and the waste gas output into the air current is prevented with the help of current guidance sheet metal pieces. The burner is arranged in a shaft-like housing, the fuel gas nozzle and the lower part of mixing pipe are surrounded by a pot-shaped current guidance sheet metal piece. A cylindrical current guidance sheet metal piece adjoins the cooled burner plate. The burner which, for example, can be used in dryers, for heating room air with so-called make-up air units and in gas water heaters, operates completely independently of the air flowing around it in a wide heat load range, without any change in the air coefficient. Because of the super-stoichiometric premixing of the burning gas with the air, the NO.sub.
