  • Patent number: 4388745
Abstract: A wide-angle hinge assembly includes a frame hinge section and a door leaf inge section connected to one another by a linkage arrangement. The linkage arrangement includes two double-armed link members and an intermediate link. The double-armed link members are pivotable about a common pivot point, and one of the link members pivotally engages one end of the intermediate link having its other end pivotally connected to the leaf hinge section. The linkage arrangement further includes a spring mechanism that is effective to provide a closing pressure during closing and maintaining the closed position for securing the door leaf. The spring mechanism is arranged on the intermediate link and coacts with a cam component included as a part of the leaf hinge section.

  • Patent number: 4365384
Abstract: A spring hinge assembly is used as a concealed furniture hinge. A frame he section and a leaf hinge section are connected by link members each having two pivot points and being movable between an open and a closed position. The hinge sections are under spring action with respect to one another with the leaf hinge section being held by a spring latch in the closed position. The extension of one of the link members includes a control cam which coacts with a lever element. The lever element carries a roller and is under spring action. A biasing mechanism is located on that side of the lever element remote from the link supporting plate of the frame hinge section. The biasing mechanism is effective to simultaneously engage the lever element and the link supporting plate and the biased lever element and the supporting plate outwardly from the frame member.

  • Patent number: 4139924
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to a hinge fitting adapted to be secured to a leaf or frame and including a casing having a slot defined by a pair of spaced walls opening through interior and exterior surfaces of the casing, a locking member nonrotatably connected to a shaft which is in turn rotatably journaled to the casing and having an end portion with means for coupling a drive tool thereto for rotating the shaft to rotate the locking member to dispose a portion thereof beyond the casing and into gripping engagement with an associated leaf or frame. An axis of the shaft is disposed in eccentric relationship to the locking member and more closely adjacent one of the pair of spaced walls whereby the one wall serves as an abutment means to limit the outward disposition of the locking member beyond the casing.

  • Patent number: 4134180
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to a furniture hinge which includes first, sed, and intermediate hinge elements with the first intermediate hinge elements being pivotably connected to each other and means mounting the second and intermediate hinge elements for relative linear movement therebetween, the intermediate hinge element including a generally T-shaped projection, and a screw threadably received in a threaded bore of the intermediate hinge element and being generally irremovably secured to the second hinge element whereby upon rotation of the screw relative motion is provided between the intermediate and second hinge elements and upon the disassembly of the intermediate hinge element from the second hinge element, the latter retains the screw therewith whereby the screw can not be inadvertently, accidentally or otherwise lost.

  • Patent number: 4105359
Abstract: This disclosure relates to an adaptor for a countersinking device and inces a pair of plates disposed in generally parallel relationship to each other and being relatively movable between minimum and maximum distances, the first plate carrying a countersinking tool, the second plate having an aperture in alignment with the countersinking tool, means normally urging the plates toward their relative position of maximum spacing, and adjustable stop means for limiting the relative movement of the plates toward their minimum position of relative spacing.

  • Patent number: 4035099
Abstract: This invention relates to a drill bit locating tool particularly adapted locating drill holes associated with furniture hinges, the tool including a generally U-shaped member defined by a bight portion and a pair of the legs with a first of the legs carrying a clamp and a second of the legs having aperture means for locating drill bits to form drill holes for an associated furniture hinge, the improvement comprising an adaptor carried by the second leg, the adaptor being generally U-shaped in cross-section and in embracing relationship to the second leg, and means carried by the adaptor for locating the tool relative to a piece of furniture.

  • Patent number: 3991437
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a concealed hinge for furniture doors and incls at least three hinge elements, a first element being carried by the frame, a second element being mounted at one end for sliding movement relative to the first element and being pivotally connected at an opposite end to a door, the third element being pivoted to the first element and to the second element, and latch means pivotally connected to the third element by the pivot connection between the second and third elements. The latch means is preferably spring biased toward its latched position and is preferably U-shaped as viewed in cross-section. A fourth hinge element is pivotally connected between the door and the third hinge element and the latch means latches upon the pivot between the door and fourth hinge element.
