  • Patent number: 4509216
Abstract: In a sofa bed mechanism which includes a foldable bed frame, a support member on which the bed frame is movably supported, a linkage assembly operable to govern movement of the bed frame and a control member for guiding movement of the mechanism into and out of a storage position in a supporting framework.

  • Patent number: 4494258
Abstract: A sofa bed mechanism comprising a foldable bed frame having side and end rails and a back support slat extending between the side rails across the width of the bed frame at a position corresponding to the upper back area of a user in a sleeping position. The back support slat is bowed upwardly in its natural state and moves downwardly under load to yieldably resist the load and exert an outwardly directed force on the side rails. The slat has a top surface of substantial width so that it adds firmness to the bed without interfering with sleeper comfort. The invention further includes legs of semicircular cross section supporting the bed frame on the floor.

  • Patent number: 4410329
Abstract: An automatic clothes washing appliance of the type incorporating a stationary tub, a clothes receiving basket movably supported in the tub, a spray system for distributing fill water over the articles received in the basket, and a drive motor which selectively drives the basket for wash and spin cycle operation. The control system for the appliance includes an arrangement for detecting the existence of an oversuds condition in the tub and basket which is operative upon detection of an oversuds condition to interrupt appliance operation and initiate a corrective cycle which includes actuation of the spray system to spray water over the clothes in the basket. Upon completion of the corrective cycle, normal appliance operation is resumed from the point of interruption. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, the detection arrangement monitors motor speed to detect a change indicative of an increased load on the motor.

  • Patent number: 4318519
Abstract: A hose guide member constructed as a unitary wireform is specifically adapted to connect an anti-kink corrugated plastic hose of an appliance such as an automatic washer to a vertical support in either a stand pipe installation or a laundry tub installation. The guide includes a single length of wire formed with a pair of open-ended hose attachment clamps at either end of a reversely bent section which is formed in the radius of the drain hose. Each attachment clamp is formed with a double turn of substantially parallel reversely bent loops with spacing matched to the pitch of the hose corrugations. The corrugations of the drain hose when placed into the clamps matingly engage the double turn loops, thereby fastening the hose to the guide in a shape conforming to the reversely bent section. Support engagement fingers extend from both attachment clamps and extend inwardly of the formed radius to cross each other.

  • Patent number: 4301666
Abstract: A lubrication system for the transmission of an automatic clothes washing machine is provided which includes a generally vertical hollow shaft arranged to be driven from the transmission. An oil pump includes a cup mounted on the lower end of the shaft for rotation therewith, and a piston slidably positioned on the shaft and receivable within this cup. The piston is arranged for sliding movement on the shaft, but is prevented from rotating with the shaft. The piston is biased toward the cup by a spring positioned on the shaft. The piston is formed to provide an inlet port on the outer wall thereof, and an outlet port on the inner wall, the outlet port being positioned in communication with a passage to the interior of a hollow shaft at predetermined intervals during rotation of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4079498
Abstract: A fastening device and method is provided for fastening first and second members in hingedly assembled relationship. The fastening device includes a slot opening through the first member, an integrally formed hinge member having a first planar portion with an end, a second planar portion, and an intermediate portion with its longitudinal axis at the junction of the first and second portions. The first and intermediate portions are dimensioned to pass through the slot while the second portion is larger than the slot. The intermediate portion is in the slot and the second portion of the hinge is secured to the second member.
