  • Patent number: 5960782
Abstract: An outdoor grill is provided that has a base which houses an interior firebox and a cooking surface located above the firebox. The base has a grill top pivotally coupled thereto above the cooking surface. The grill top has an inner wall mounted within its interior which extends upwardly and rearwardly. The grill top has a rear wall that has a vent which is located below the intersection of the inner wall and the rear wall. Hot air rising from the firebox is directed rearwardly and upwardly by the inner wall and exits the grill top through the vent. The top surface of the grill top is thus insulated from the hot air by the inner wall and the vent. A second vent may be provided in the front wall of the grill top, which allows fresh air to flow rearwardly and upwardly above the inner wall. The air is allowed to exit the grill top through a chimney formed in the grill top near the rear of the top.

  • Patent number: 5934268
Abstract: A catalytic insert for an existing fireplace structure includes a frame for carrying a catalyst member. The frame is disposed in the fireplace structure at a vertically elevated position such that an upper chamber is formed in the structure, and such that at least a portion of the combustion products generated in the fireplace flow into the chamber through the catalyst member and exit the chamber into the room in which the fireplace structure is located. A support member extends from the frame to the fireplace structure bottom wall. The support member provides the main source of support of the frame within the fireplace structure. The frame and support member are adapted to be positionable in an existing fireplace structure to allow catalytic reaction of combustion products generated in the fireplace structure. The frame of the insert can also be adjustable to conform to multiple configurations of the fireplace structure.

  • Patent number: 4947523
Abstract: A bag closure device includes a handle member, a clasp member connected at one of its ends to the handle member and having an opposite free end capable of being removably coupled to the handle member. Structure is provided which beneficially compresses, and hence closes, a portion of flexible bag therebetween. According to one embodiment, such structure may be in the form of a truncated V-shaped member associated with the handle member which compresses a region of the bag against a V-shaped trough associated with the clasp member. In another embodiment, such structure includes a circumferential boss segment which compresses the bag portion against an interior surface of an axially flexible strap member. In either embodiment, the captured bag is effectively prevented from slipping under its own weight during transport of the bag via the bag closure device.

  • Patent number: 4925055
Abstract: A container includes a substantially rigid upper container segment, a flexible bladder integral with, and depending from, the upper container segment, and a lower substantially rigid container segment attached to the upper container segment so that the flexible bladder is housed therein. The upper container segment presents a smooth exterior continuation of the lower container segment so that the two segments visually appear to be formed in a unitary manner. A foldable hanger may be provided integrally on the bottom wall of the container so as to facilitate the container's supported inversion. In one embodiment, the bladder is spaced from the container bottom wall so as to establish a sub-container therebetween. A self-closing dispensing cap is provided which includes a pair of resilient, flexible sealing lips which are defined in part by an elongated discharge slit. An overcap is also provided which includes additional sealing means for engaging the sealing lips when the overcap is in a closed position.

  • Patent number: 4871264
Abstract: Bag closure devices include elongate male and female members each having a wall which is generally U-shaped in cross-sectional configuration and terminating in a pair of opposing, separated edge regions which define therebetween a slot extending the axial length of the members. The U-shaped walls of the male and female members are formed of a resilient, shape-retaining plastic material (e.g., PE) which permits the opposing edge regions to be resiliently displaced relative to one another so as to facilitate the entry of the male member into a generally cylindrical interior space defined by the female member when the two members are moved into frictional nested relationship. The male and female members are preferably interconnected to one another by an integral hinge which facilitates moving the same into such nested relationship. A locking member may optionally be provided so as to releasably lock the male and female members in their nested relationship.
