  • Patent number: 7471656
Abstract: Aspects for seamless mobility of mobile terminals in a wireless network are described. The aspects include utilizing a reassociation request from a mobile terminal to identify need for an internetwork handover of the mobile terminal roaming in a wireless local area network (WLAN), and performing a protocol sequence in an access point (AP) for the mobile terminal to handle the internetwork handover to ensure connectivity of the mobile terminal while roaming.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 14, 2003
Date of Patent: December 30, 2008
    Assignee: Atmel Corporation
    Inventors: Theodore Karoubalis, Ioanna Samprakoy
  • Publication number: 20070283311
Abstract: A field programmable gate array (FPGA) and methods for executing operations using an FPGA are provided. The method includes providing a first dynamic macro and a second dynamic macro in the FPGA. The first dynamic macro and the second dynamic macro each represent logic within the FPGA that can be reconfigured. The method further includes executing a first operation associated with the user application using the first dynamic macro; reconfiguring the second macro to execute a second operation associated with the user application prior to completion of the first operation; and upon completion of the first operation, executing the second operation using the second dynamic macro.

  • Publication number: 20060045051
Abstract: A quality of service mechanism for a wireless network includes reserving time for contention-based transmissions of station devices under a polling-based channel access function in an access point. Also included is deriving a scheduled polling service under access rules of the polling-based channel access function, wherein admission capability and bandwidth management of the wireless network are enhanced.

  • Publication number: 20060045050
Abstract: A quality of service mechanism for a wireless network includes providing an admission control policy for a quality of service access point (QAP) to manage bandwidth by accepting or denying service to admitted traffic streams of quality of service stations (QSTAs) Further included is renegotiating different access category parameters in the QAP for enhancing performance in the wireless network. An additional aspect also includes monitoring in the QSTAs for enhanced networking to determine whether bandwidth allocation to a specific access category meets QoS requirements under time-varying network conditions and renegotiating admitted access category bandwidth if necessary.

  • Publication number: 20060010489
Abstract: Aspects for enhancing security in wireless stations of a local area network (LAN) are described. The aspects include utilizing a smart card to store sensitive data in a wireless station accessing a host in a wireless local area network (WLAN). Further included is providing a cryptographic token interface in the host for performing cryptographic operations with the sensitive data from the wireless station.
