  • Publication number: 20240068567
Abstract: A metal seal for a flat face fluid coupling includes an annular seal body and a retainer having a fixed end fixed to the seal body, a free end spaced from the seal body, and an intermediate portion extending between the free end and the fixed end. The retainer is configured to engage a wall of the fluid coupling with a retaining force for securing the seal to the fluid coupling. The seal body has opposite first and second flat annular sealing surfaces, and a radially outer annular angled portion that is inclined relative to the annular sealing surface. The angled portion is configured to enhance stiffness around a circumference of the seal body, and is configured to engage a face of the fluid coupling to generate a moment of force about the retainer for enhancing the retaining force acting against the wall of the fluid coupling.

  • Patent number: 11320069
Abstract: A threaded coupling for ensuring a complete connection between fluid conduits includes a body portion of a fluid conduit, an axially forward sealing surface, a thread, and an interference member. The interference member is disposed on the body portion and is engageable with a portion of another fluid conduit to apply a load on the interference member when the fluid conduits are threadably connected together. The interference member is configured to prevent a complete sealing engagement between the fluid conduits when the load on the interference member is less than a predefined amount, and is configured to allow the complete sealing engagement between the fluid conduits when the load on the interference member meets or exceeds the predetermined amount.

  • Publication number: 20190126336
Abstract: Provided is a die and a method for forming a flange at an axial end of a rigid metal tube. The die is configured to be engaged by a forming tool to deform the axial end of the rigid metal tube into the flange suitable for providing a leakproof link with an external sealing element. A flange recess in the die provides a shutoff-surface for defining a radially outermost perimeter of the flange formed in the flange recess, and a groove, disposed axially adjacent the flange recess, that is configured to provide for direction of overflow material of the rigid tube during flange formation. The groove aids in enabling an adequately sized planar sealing face of the flange while reducing or altogether preventing formation of flashing at the sealing face.
