  • Patent number: 5305958
Abstract: In the prior art, there is U.S. Pat. No. 3,386,611 which discloses a uni-directionally controlled hydraulically-actuatable center-pivot irrigation apparatus, having strategically located three-way valves. The instant invention discloses a dual-directionally controlled hydraulically-actuatable center-pivot irrigation apparatus having strategically located four-way valves, a dual-directional-valve, and other ancillary features interposed along hydraulic-control lines for the center-pivot irrigation apparatus. Accordingly, there are ancillary means for controlling the angular directional movement of the irrigation apparatus through a dual-directional-valve conveniently located at the center of a field to be irrigated by the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4627572
Abstract: Disclosed are central-pillar assemblies wherein the various components are precision assembled at a factory location in a modular form for safe shipment to remote farmsteads and there easily reliably installed by relatively unskilled personnel. The assembly comprises an upwardly convergent tubular column serving both to structurally support and to supply water to an outflow-elbow portion for the irrigation apparatus, the tubular column being intersected by a water inlet-pipe and by a slanting oblique-pipe. There is a linear drive-conduit for the apparatus electrical commutation portion and taking a slanting posture wherein it is surrounded by and is in water impervious sealing relationship to the oblique-pipe and to the outflow-elbow. Housing for the electrical commutation is disposed below the oblique-pipe and is securely attached to the tubular column.

  • Patent number: 4382550
Abstract: Sprinkler irrigation apparatus of the general type comprising a central-pillar assembly at the center-pivot site of the land tract to be irrigated, a generally horizontal lengthy water distributing conduit having spaced flexible couplings and nozzles and also traction supports at the terrain. The improved central-pillar assemblies herein disclosed, when utilized for electrically driven and controlled irrigation apparatus, have provision for the electrical commutation means to be located in elevation below the outlet-elbow means feeding the inward-end of the water distributing conduit. Electrical surveillance of the apparatus tract performance might also be initiated from nearby the low-elevation commutation means. The improved central-pillar assemblies might also be equipped with more efficient and utilitarian medial-piping feeding water to the conduit inward-end, the medial-piping arrangement being inherently sturdy whereby the need for external bracing is minimized.

  • Patent number: 4341405
Abstract: Disclosed are flexible coupling devices for strings of elongate irrigation pipes, and especially suited for overland traveling sprinkler irrigation apparatuses. The pronounced flexure coupling devices comprise insert and casing members of novel structural and spatial inter-relationship which are held together with resinous elastic material that annularly surrounds the longitudinal reference-axis for the insert member, together with means to prevent abrading between the insert and casing members. Also disclosed are preferred chemical identifications for the annular elastic connector and fabrication processes for securing the connector to the structurally novel and specially spaced insert and casing members.

  • Patent number: 4063569
Abstract: Sprinkler irrigation apparatus of the general type comprising a center-pivot site for the land tract to be irrigated, a generally horizontal water distributing conduit having sprinklers and also underlying traction supports therealong. The outermost underlying support through hydraulic or electric drive means has substantially constant-speed, but driven intermittently for an average-speed as determined by an arbitrarily settable percentage-on timer means. A primary-timer and a secondary-timer (and perhaps a tertiary-timer, etc.), each being arbitrarily set for different percentage-on values, alternatively exclusively control the outermost support drive means according to tract-tailored automatic switching means dictated by peculiarities of the particular land tract to be irrigated from a single center-pivot apparatus.
