  • Patent number: 4544534
Abstract: Catalytic desulfurization process of an acid gas containing H.sub.2 S, and optionally a total quantity of at most 3% by volume of CS.sub.2 and/or COS, by contacting said acid gas and oxygen or air with a catalyst based on titanium oxide, at temperatures between 100.degree. C. and 600.degree. C. The catalyst used comprises, in addition to the titanium oxide, a sulfate of alkaline earth metal selected from Ca, Sr, Ba and Mg. Application to the desulfurization of acid gases, which in particular contain less than 15% by volume of H.sub.2 S, and therefore cannot be treated in conventional sulfur plants.

  • Patent number: 4529718
Abstract: Aqueous alumina coating compositions well adopted for directly impregnating/coating both ceramic and metallic catalyst supports to provide integral, both macroporous and microporous coatings therefor, which coated supports are useful for the fabrication of a wide variety of catalysts for catalyzing a broad spectrum of reactions, including those characterized by highly limited internal diffusion or by progressive catalyst poisoning, e.g.

  • Patent number: 4514511
Abstract: Spheroidal alumina particulates well adapted as catalysts or catalyst supports and having enhanced pore volumes are facilely prepared by drop coagulating an aqueous suspension or dispersion of alumina, or an aqueous solution of a basic aluminum salt, said suspension, dispersion or solution comprising an oil-in-water emulsion, and then recovering, drying and calcining the gelled particulates which result.
